The tally came from ESPN's yearly poll of executives, coaches and scouts, which counted nine Lions inside the top 10 at their positions, more than any other franchise. Philadelphia ranked second with eight selections, and Kansas City placed third with seven. Under the survey's weighted scoring, Detroit finished with 56.5 points, far ahead of the Eagles at 42.75 and every other roster in the league.
Detroit's strength ran the length of the roster, not just its marquee names. Receiver Amon-Ra St. Brownclimbed into the top five at his position, Jared Goff graded as the division's best quarterback, and Jack Campbell cracked the top five at linebacker after a breakout year that earned him a rich extension.

Betting crowds read the roster more cautiously than the coaches polled did.
On Kalshi and Polymarket, traders priced the Los Angeles Rams near 16% as the clear Super Bowl favorite, with the Seattle Seahawks close behind. Detroit sat mid-pack near 4%, grouped with a cluster of second-tier contenders rather than the front-runners.
Both platforms also list division, conference and win-total contracts, and their pricing casts Detroit as a comfortable playoff pick rather than a title lock. Kalshi runs under U.S. commodities regulation and takes fiat deposits, while Polymarket settles its trades onchain.
Those Polymarket contracts clear in USD Coin(USDC), the dollar-pegged stablecoin behind most of the platform's volume.
The same venues still favor Detroit to win the NFC North, where the Lions open Sept. 13 against New Orleans at Ford Field. Markets tend to reward what teams prove on the field, not what midsummer surveys promise.
Detroit's standing has swung sharply inside two seasons.
The Lions won back-to-back division titles, then slipped to a fourth-place finish last year and missed the playoffs despite heavy preseason hype. They reshaped the coaching staff over the offseason and leaned on veteran additions, chasing the physical identity that first made them a national story.
