Developer activity around Hedera is climbing. According to Chainspect data, the number of developers on the @hedera network has risen by more than 57% over the past seven days, while the number of watchers has increased by over 300%. The figures point to a busy week for the $HBAR ecosystem.

What the Chainspect figures measure

Watchers are developers who subscribe to a repository's updates. A jump in watchers suggests more people are tracking how the project is being built, though it does not by itself show that new code is being shipped.

Chainspect tracks developer metrics for Hedera such as developers, commits, repositories, stars and watchers. Its all-time comparison pages show Hedera's scale against other chains. In one comparison, Chainspect lists Hedera with 1,317 developers and 1,238 watchers, versus 10,788 developers and 520 watchers for Solana. A weekly percentage rise therefore starts from a relatively small base, which can magnify the headline numbers.

Recent ecosystem activity

Hedera has also been active on the product side. On its official blog, Hedera lists the Scaffold-HBAR Template Bounty winners, a program that offered a $10,000 prize pool to build starter templates for developers. The same page notes the launch of Hedera Agent Accounts, which give AI agents programmable, non-custodial spending accounts.

On October 22, Tron Weekly reported that Hedera launched its Network MCP on testnet, which lets AI tools interact with the blockchain through a single endpoint for transactions and network queries.

Rising developer interest has not yet translated into price strength. 24/7 Wall St. reported on October 22 that HBAR trades around $0.081, down 14.8% over the last month and 85.8% below its all-time high of $0.57. The outlet also noted that because transaction fees are only a fraction of a cent, higher network activity does not necessarily create significant buying pressure for the token.

Whether the surge in developer attention turns into lasting building activity will be clearer in the coming weeks, as commit and repository data update.
