Celestia has unveiled Eden, a high-performance EVM chain that runs alongside its main network and is dedicated to testing how AI agents behave on-chain. The launch could add a new source of demand for $TIA, though the project itself describes the chain as an experiment.
What Eden is designed to do
Celestia describes Eden as an experimental sandbox for "Agentic Commerce," designed to test the behavior and infrastructure requirements of AI agents when autonomously making on-chain payments, executing trades, and invoking models.Celestia indicated that as AI agents take part in more frequent on-chain transactions, demand for block space, real-time settlement, and low-friction payments will continue to rise.
On the technical side, the chain runs on the Evolve Stack and handles its own execution and consensus, leaning on Celestia mainnet only for data availability.Eden is EVM-compatible and supports atomic batch transactions, application gas payment, and larger smart contract deployments, with TIA as the native gas token. It also supports existing Solidity contracts and standard developer tools including Hardhat, Foundry, Ethers, and Viem.
Celestia announced the launch on X on October 16.
First experiment and TIA market reaction
Eden's first experimental project is Botfun, currently in closed testing. According to Celestia, participating agents can issue tokens autonomously and trade around narratives generated by other agents, with each model inference call paid on-chain via x402.Celestia claimed the experiment briefly positioned Eden among the largest x402 networks by transaction volume.
Markets reacted quickly. TIA rose about 16% in 24 hours to roughly $0.69 to $0.70 after the launch, although other data providers reported larger moves over slightly different windows. The gains did not hold evenly. TIA fell 14.3% from its October 17 high following the announcement.
The link between Eden and token demand is direct but unproven. Eden introduces a potential new source of demand for TIA through transaction fees, but the announcement did not clarify the expected level of activity or fees, leaving the sustainability of that demand uncertain. The key test will be whether Eden attracts ongoing developer participation and transaction volume beyond its initial experiments.
Caution is also warranted given the nature of the test. Eden is explicitly experimental and Botfun remains in closed beta, while systems where bots issue and trade tokens around AI-written narratives could produce unexpected market behavior.
For now, Eden is best read as a research environment that sends real traffic to Celestia's data availability layer. Whether it becomes a lasting driver of value for the $TIA ecosystem will depend on measurable usage over the coming months.
