Trump Media & Technology Group (NASDAQ: DJT) shares fell 8.03% to $9.39 as investors reacted to the company's latest quarterly loss and a fresh increase in its Bitcoin holdings. DJT opened at $10.09 before selling pressure pushed the stock to an intraday low of $9.10.

The decline came after Trump Media reported a $238.1 million net loss for the second quarter of 2026. The loss was more than ten times the $20 million loss recorded a year earlier, while quarterly revenue increased to $1.7 million from $0.9 million.

At the same time, Trump Media added 4,661.84 Bitcoin to its treasury. The purchase brings the company's total Bitcoin holdings to 12,061.66 BTC, excluding pledged Bitcoin where other parties have rights to sell the assets.

Trump Media Adds 4,661 Bitcoin to Treasury

The latest purchase increases Trump Media's position among publicly traded companies holding Bitcoin. The company has continued building its digital asset reserve, flipping Elon Musk’s Tesla, even as falling crypto prices have contributed to large unrealized losses on its balance sheet.

Trump Media held 9,477 BTC and 756.1 million CRO tokens as of June 30. Those holdings were valued at a combined $597.7 million at the time, while unrealized losses on digital assets reached $360.6 million during the first half of 2026.

The wider quarterly loss was also linked to those digital asset losses. Excluding unrealized losses, taxes, interest, and other items, Trump Media recorded a $164 million operating loss, compared with $44 million a year earlier.

Trump Media Shifts Focus Back to Truth Social

The larger loss comes as Trump Media changes its approach to several businesses launched outside its core social media operations. Interim CEO Kevin McGurn said the company plans to put more resources into Truth Social while changing or ending some newer ventures.

“We made the disciplined choice to pivot to invest more time and resources in our most important initiatives,” McGurn said. He added that the company would “say no to things or change course as warranted.”

The company has also launched Truth API, a paid data service that provides customers with access to posts from influential Truth Social accounts. Trump Media said it had signed more than 10 customer agreements since the service launched on August 1.

The service is priced between $60,000 and $100,000 per month, according to McGurn. The company said its customers include high-frequency trading firms, while it also expects interest from financial companies, news organizations and technology firms.

Trump Media also continues to work on its planned merger with fusion energy developer TAE Technologies. Management expects the transaction to close by the end of 2026.

Meanwhile, the company has ended its proposed crypto treasury venture with Crypto.com and restructured a planned prediction market integration. The changes come as Trump Media continues to hold a large Bitcoin position while dealing with losses tied to digital asset prices.
