Dogecoin‘s short-term technical outlook has taken a downturn, reigniting concerns about a potential death cross. The daily chart indicates the 50-day moving average is trending downwards, while the 200-day average is leveling out, hinting at a possible bearish crossover. The timeline for this formation, however, remains uncertain.

Technical Weakness Signals Persist

October saw Dogecoin’s first daily golden cross in 2026, sparking hopes of a bullish trend. Yet, an acceleration in sell-offs across the cryptocurrency market has dragged the price down to $0.077. Sellers appear intent on negating this bullish signal, fueling worries over a prospective death cross pressuring the value.

Despite the current configuration, no definitive outcome is assured. Any shift in momentum could disrupt the downward trajectory. Over the last 24 hours, Dogecoin has rebounded by 3.19%, reaching $0.081. This recovery follows a wave of intraday selling.

The downward trend of the 50-day moving average and the flattening 200-day moving average bring the risk of a potential death cross front and center for Dogecoin.

Macroeconomic Data Influences Market Appetite

Volatility in the market has been compounded by U.S. inflation data. September’s Producer Price Index recorded a 6.3% year-over-year increase in wholesale prices, the steepest rise since 2022. Consumer Price Index results released a day earlier also supported an upward trend.

Federal Reserve officials sanctioned an interest rate hike in September, the first in over three years. Market pricing suggests a potential pause in October with another increase on the horizon for December. These interest rate expectations have intensified volatility in high-risk assets.

Diverging Analyst Opinions Emerge

The last death cross on Dogecoin’s daily chart transpired in November 2025, subsequently triggering prolonged selling pressure. The recurrence of such speculation post-golden cross has investors scrutinizing price dynamics.

A crypto analyst, Ali, presents a more optimistic view in a recent post. He highlights three factors: the TD Sequential indicator signaling a buying opportunity around $0.081, URPD data showing 36 billion DOGE exchanged around this price point, and notable investors accumulating 600 million DOGE since October 12.

Glossary: TD Sequential is a technical indicator that seeks to identify exhaustion in price movement and potential directional shifts. URPD helps assess trading intensity by indicating how much of an asset changed hands at specific price levels.

Ali suggests that maintaining the $0.081 level could see Dogecoin’s price move towards a sell-off range between $0.16 and $0.17.

According to the analyst, if Dogecoin sustains the $0.081 support and rebounds, the $0.16 to $0.17 range may emerge as the next profit-taking zone. This cautious optimism persists despite short-term technical pressure, underpinned by on-chain data and significant investor activity.
