- DTCC technology could support over $20 trillion in daily financial transactions, according to comments from its digital assets executive.
- Chainlink Data Feeds and Data Streams are live on Stellar, serving its real-world asset ecosystem valued above $4 billion.
- Wider institutional use could benefit blockchain networks, but the announced plans do not guarantee higher demand for LINK or XLM.
DTCC blockchain plans bring financial automation and tokenized assets into focus as institutions explore ways to connect established markets with public networks.
DTCC Explores High-Volume Transaction Technology
ALLINCRYPTO (@RealAllinCrypto) shared comments from DTCC’s Dan Doney about technology that could support more than $20 trillion in daily financial transactions. The figure describes potential capacity, not confirmed blockchain transaction volume. It reflects the scale of financial activity that new systems may eventually handle.

DTCC enables significant components of the US securities market, such as clearing and settlement, and asset servicing. It enables financial institutions to conduct transactions and to record who owns what. The use of blockchain technology may transform the way assets are transferred and reconciled between institutions.
Some financial processes might integrate less manual work through automation. It could also enable institutions to link separate systems together. Rollout, regardless, would still have to meet security, reliability and regulatory requirements.
The $20 trillion is not a guarantee that DTCC already uses blockchain for that amount of daily trading. Potential capacity and live transaction activity are different measures. Published usage data would show how much of this activity reaches operational systems.
Chainlink Data Services Arrive on Stellar
Chainlink and Stellar are providing different components of the infrastructure for financial products on the blockchain. Chainlink is a data service provider and Stellar is a network for issuing and moving digital assets.Their connection gives developers tools for building applications that rely on market information.
Cointelegraph reported on October 14 that Chainlink Data Feeds and Data Streams had gone live on Stellar. The services bring verifiable market data to Stellar’s real-world asset ecosystem, valued at more than $4 billion. Developers can use this information in applications involving tokenized financial products.
Data Feeds supply aggregated information, including asset prices. Data Streams provide market data to applications requiring regular updates. These services can be used to aid in pricing calculations, collateral checks, and automated rules for transactions.
However, tokenized assets require reliable data on the value and market conditions. Applications can calculate prices incorrectly or use old data without it being known. Data services can help solve this issue but application-specific security and operational risks need to be managed as well.
Tokenized Assets Face Practical Tests
Stellar enables the issuance and transfer of digital assets representing traditional assets. They can be cash, credit instruments and other financial assets. More tokenized products could create additional demand for market data and supporting infrastructure.
Chainlink’s launch on Stellar extends its data services to another blockchain ecosystem. Increased use could bring more activity to Chainlink’s infrastructure, but the announcement provides no figures for future revenue or LINK purchases. Network integration alone does not establish a direct increase in token demand.
XLM’s role depends on how applications use the Stellar network. Additional tokenized activity could increase network usage, yet it does not guarantee a matching rise in demand for XLM. Fees, transaction design, and each application’s operating model will affect that relationship.
Financial institutions also need to take custody, investor protection, legal ownership and regulatory aspects into account. These duties remain after the asset is placed on the blockchain. Until the day comes when tokenized products are ubiquitous, the institutions will need systems that meet the prevailing rules.
Services will be the most obvious and transaction activity open. The increased use by financial institutions would demonstrate if these projects are progressing beyond technical integration. For now, the $20 trillion estimate reflects potential capacity, but the launch of Chainlink-Stellar represents a step in the deployment.
