The twelfth edition of the European Blockchain Convention takes place on September 16 and 17, 2026 in Barcelona. This year, the event more than ever embraces its institutional shift: banks, asset managers and market infrastructures take center stage, with BlackRock, Swift, State Street or Citi on the program. Here is what to expect, the entrance cost, and the code reserved for the Cointribune community.

In brief

  • The European Blockchain Convention 12 takes place September 16-17, 2026 in Barcelona, at Torre Melina (Gran Meliá).
  • The organizer announces more than 6,000 participants and 300 speakers expected.
  • The 2026 positioning is openly institutional: “where Europe does business on digital assets”.
  • Among the speakers: digital asset executives from BlackRock, Swift, State Street, Citi, BNP Paribas, Deutsche Bank, plus Stani Kulechov (Aave) and the Cardano Foundation.
  • The community code INATBA_15 applies a 15% discount on the current rate (excluding VAT).

An event designed for finance shifting on-chain

The European Blockchain Convention has never hidden its ambition: to gather over two days an ecosystem usually scattered among European financial centers. The promise is summarized by an image, that of a “deal floor” where traditional banks and digital asset players meet on the same floor.

The 2026 program pushes this logic to its end. While many crypto events highlight protocols and tokens, the EBC places institutions at the center. The announced speaker list confirms this without ambiguity: Nikhil Sharma (BlackRock), Tom Zschach (Swift), Kim Hochfeld (State Street), Nadine Teychenne and Ryan Rugg (Citi), David Calabaza (BNP Paribas), Immo Garlichs (Deutsche Bank), Kathleen Wrynn (Invesco), Previn Singh (Fidelity International). In other words, the “digital asset” heads of major asset management firms and custodian banks, not just startup founders.

The crypto-native world is not absent though. Stani Kulechov, founder of Aave, the Cardano Foundation, and Animoca Brands are part of the cast, alongside the UK regulator FCA. It is precisely this mix — TradFi, crypto natives, regulators — that forms the central argument of this edition.

Deal Floor, Startup Battle and LP breakfasts

The format is calibrated to facilitate networking. On the menu: an expanded exhibition area, a networking app that helps spot the right contacts and schedule meetings in advance, closed roundtables among peers, and an “LP breakfast” reserved for allocators, managers and family offices. The Startup Battle highlights market infrastructure startups.

So it is not a broad festival, but a dense business event, anchored in a hotel — the Torre Melina — rather than on a beach. The difference in dynamics is assumed by the organizer, who bets on longer conversations and an environment conducive to negotiation. For a reader looking for general public education, this is a point to keep in mind: the EBC primarily targets sector professionals.

A word of caution, since the event itself displays it: investment in crypto assets is not regulated, may not be suitable for individuals, and the entire invested capital can be lost. The presence of a platform or issuer on stage is an industry debate, never a recommendation.

Prices and benefits of the community code

Three pass levels are offered, all for two days and all excluding VAT (10%). The General Pass starts at €500 Early Bird, then €750 Regular and €1,800 Late Bird. The VIP Pass adds lunch with speakers, the opening evening on September 15 and access to the Speaker Lounge, from €800. The Tiger Pass, designed for business development, includes access to the participant list and three one-on-one meetings, from €2,499.

A detail that matters: prices increase by steps as the date approaches, and a countdown on the site signals the upcoming end of Early Bird. Better to book early. Payment is possible in euros as well as in crypto.

With the code Cointribune_15 , the Cointribune community gets 15% off the current rate — which means, on a General Pass Early Bird, about €425 instead of €500 (excluding VAT). The code is applied at payment. As always, the ticket does not cover travel or accommodation in Barcelona.

The real question posed by this edition remains: if the digital asset heads of BlackRock, Swift and State Street are making the trip, it means tokenization is leaving the experimental phase. What will be said in the closed roundtables on September 16 and 17 will reveal more about the real timeline of this shift than any press release. The appointment is set.

👉 To book at the community rate −15% (code Cointribune_15 ), go to the official ticketing. Remember to enter the code before payment; prices increase closer to the event.
