Fairshake PAC, a crypto-backed group supported by Coinbase, Ripple, and a16z, has announced it will back 32 House candidates, comprising 19 Republicans and 13 Democrats, ahead of the November 2026 midterm elections. The move marks the PAC's first broad push into general-election House races this cycle.

$6 Million to Start, With More to Follow

Three Republican and three Democratic candidates will each receive $1 million in spending. The named recipients include Oregon Representative Janelle Bynum, California Representative Derek Tran, and Nevada Representative Steven Horsford on the Democratic side, and Arkansas Representative French Hill, Michigan Representative Bill Huizenga, and Wisconsin Representative Bryan Steil as Republicans.

Fairshake has not disclosed how much it plans to spend on the remaining 26 races. Looking at the broader picture, Fairshake expects to spend over $100 million this year on advertising to support House and Senate candidates, with at least $30 million allocated to the Ohio Senate race, backing Republican candidate Jon Husted against Democrat Sherrod Brown.

As of August, Fairshake held $122 million in cash, aiming to help establish the largest pro-crypto coalition of lawmakers in U.S. history. PAC spokesperson Geoff Vetter described the group's approach plainly: "Fairshake has always been and always will be an issue-focused organization. We back pro-crypto candidates who support American innovation in both parties."

CLARITY Act Collapse Raises the Stakes

All 32 candidates Fairshake is supporting voted to advance the Digital Asset Market Clarity Act, a bill that had been expected to establish clear roles for U.S. financial agencies in overseeing digital assets. The House passed the market structure legislation in July 2025. But the bill ran into trouble in the Senate.

The Senate voted to block the Digital Asset Market Clarity Act from advancing, with the motion to invoke cloture failing 50 to 49, well below the 60-vote threshold required to open floor debate on the bill.Negotiations broke down over several issues, including ethics provisions governing public officials' crypto interests.

That setback has made the November elections more important for the industry, because a new Congress may need to revisit market structure legislation in 2027.Fairshake's network earlier this election cycle spent $71 million across 57 primaries and special elections, with its preferred candidates winning 53 races. The industry is now betting that a favorable midterm outcome can reset the legislative clock.
