U.S. authorities have seized more than $560,000 in cryptocurrency tied to Hamas fundraising campaigns while taking control of websites and servers used to solicit donations and communicate with supporters.
The operation combined more than $560,000 in court-authorized crypto seizures with infrastructure actions spanning March 2025 through August 2026. Three cryptocurrency seizure warrants were executed in March, June and October 2025, followed by additional operations against online infrastructure in July and August this year.
Hamas supporters were directed through encrypted communications to fundraising websites that supplied rotating cryptocurrency donation addresses for the Al-Qassam Brigades.
The first March 2025 action recovered approximately $200,000 in stablecoins. Investigators subsequently connected additional addresses through recurring transaction infrastructure, including a shared gas-funding wallet used across multiple addresses associated with the fundraising network.
Later transactions moved through new wallets, centralized exchanges and cross-chain bridges. The network also included an account believed to be connected to a Lebanon-based over-the-counter broker and another exhibiting activity consistent with a money mule.
By October 2025, the fundraising operation had begun using single-use donation addresses and cross-chain bridges as funds moved between blockchains. The transaction history still allowed investigators to connect new addresses with previously identified operational and consolidation wallets.
The investigation expanded beyond cryptocurrency during 2026. FBI agents seized domains and servers associated with AlQassam.ps, the main website used by Hamas’ military wing, through enforcement actions in July and August.
Control of the infrastructure allowed investigators to intercept intended donations and collect information involving thousands of individuals who contacted Hamas online seeking to donate or attempting to contribute through cryptocurrency and conventional payment methods.
Crypto wallets linked to Hamas have faced seizures outside the United States as well. Israeli authorities previously confiscated 30 Hamas-linked wallets associated with accounts tied to the Gaza-based Al-Mutahadun exchange.
The five U.S. actions demonstrate how previously identified blockchain infrastructure can remain useful even after a fundraising network changes addresses or moves funds between chains.
Public ledgers preserve transaction histories across those movements, allowing wallet clusters, bridge transfers and exchange deposits to be revisited as investigators identify additional addresses. Crypto seizures, freezes and recoveries reached an estimated 11% of identified illicit volume during 2025 as issuers, exchanges and law-enforcement agencies expanded blockchain tracing and asset-recovery operations.
The FBI’s Albuquerque Field Office continues the Hamas financing investigation with its Counterterrorism Division, Cyber Division and New York Field Office. Information obtained from the seized infrastructure will be used in further counterterrorism investigations involving individuals who attempted to send funds to the organization.
