A misleading video claiming that a California woman lost $320,000 has become the basis for another warning about cryptocurrency security. Coach Anderson used the claim to remind XRP holders that poor security practices can put their investments at risk.

However, the video does not prove that the woman lost money through cold storage, and investors should not mistake the social media claim for a verified incident.

In his post on X, the crypto enthusiast outlined five security measures he believes every XRP holder should understand. He focused on self-custody, hardware wallets, recovery phrase protection, transaction verification, and scam awareness.

Coach Anderson Recommends Self-Custody and Cold Storage

Coach Anderson began by encouraging XRP holders to understand self-custody. He explained that reputable self-custody wallets give investors direct control over their private keys instead of requiring them to depend entirely on cryptocurrency exchanges.

He also recommended hardware wallets for investors who want to keep their private keys offline. Cold storage reduces exposure to certain online attacks and gives users another way to protect their holdings.

However, he warned that hardware wallets cannot guarantee complete protection against financial losses. Investors must also secure their devices, recovery phrases, and backups.

The crypto enthusiast placed particular emphasis on recovery phrase protection. He warned XRP holders never to share these details with anyone, including people claiming to represent wallet providers or customer support teams. Anyone who obtains a recovery phrase could gain access to the funds in the associated wallet.

Transaction Verification and Scam Prevention

Coach Anderson also advised investors to verify every transaction before approving it. He specifically mentioned checking wallet addresses and XRP destination tags whenever a transaction requires one.

He recommended sending a small test amount before transferring larger sums, especially when dealing with unfamiliar addresses.

He further warned about fake support agents, phishing links, impersonation accounts, and fraudulent wallet applications. These scams can expose investors to theft when they reveal sensitive information or approve malicious transactions.

His message was straightforward: XRP holders should take security seriously rather than wait until they lose access to their investments.

The $320,000 Video Does Not Confirm a Cold Storage Loss

The video accompanying Coach Anderson’s post requires clarification. The footage shows Evelyn Padias Bosley, whose emotional video clips have circulated across TikTok, Facebook, and Instagram with unrelated captions.

The footage does not establish that she lost $320,000 or that cold storage caused such a loss. The claim therefore remains unverified.

Importantly, holding XRP in a hardware wallet does not ordinarily cause investors to lose their funds.
