The company behind the largest corporate BNB treasury, CEA Industries Inc. (Nasdaq: BNC), has announced that moving forward, it will now go by a new name: BNB Standard Corporation. The change is in name only; the firm will retain its BNC ticker.
The firm settled on the new name after a BNB community advisory poll on X.
With the rebrand announced and active as of Tuesday, September 29, the firm will be hoping to move on from a name that became synonymous with a governance drama that kept it in the headlines since late 2025.
How BNB Standard got its new name
The firm formerly known as CEA Industries chose its name after the BNB Standard option got the most votes, leading a four-name pool that ran for a five-day voting process.
BNB Standard secured 5,799 advisory votes, roughly 47% of all the votes.
“As far as we know, few listed companies have asked their community to help choose their name. We think more should,” Interim President Alex Odagiu said. He added in the statement that “the reasoning in the replies was as valuable as the votes themselves.”
Board Chair Carly E. Howard echoed the community participation angle, saying that the new name “reflects what the Company has become.”
What this rebrand means
Other than the name change, a new logo and visual identity, not much is expected to change once CEA Industries assumes its new BNB Standard identity.
Common stock will continue under the BNC ticker on the Nasdaq Capital Market. The BNCWW and BNCWZ warrants will also remain unchanged, just as the CUSIP number is unchanged. Existing share certificates also stay valid, and holders do not need to swap anything.
As of July 31, 2026, BNC held 515,544 BNB tokens worth about $302.3 million, per its first-quarter fiscal 2027 results. That quarter carried a net loss of $11.4 million, driven mostly by a $15.3 million unrealized markdown on its holdings.
Moving on from CEA Industries era drama
The uncontested rebrand is a welcome change for a company that has ridden sharp waves in 2026 to date.
The asset manager on the roughly $500 million private placement deal that turned the nicotine vape manufacturer into a BNB treasury company in August 2025, 10X Capital, later became the target of an activist campaign by YZi Labs, the CZ-linked firm formerly known as Binance Labs.
The dispute eventually cooled on June 23, 2026, with a cooperation agreement between BNC and YZi Labs. However, that came after multiple rounds of press releases, undisclosed ownership stake accusations, and a BNC lawsuit against 10X Capital, seeking to void a management agreement whose termination clause could have exceeded $100 million.
YZi has since dropped its consent solicitation, and the board has added Ella Zhang, Odagiu and Matthew Roszak as directors, expanding to six directors. Odagiu continues to hold the interim president position as of this report.
David Namdar vacated the CEO role on July 22, 2026, and the board’s CEO search is still running. BNC also has to appoint a seventh independent director under the YZi deal and resolve the pending 10X Capital litigation.
