Grayscale Research says Zcash could rise to roughly $8,100 by 2030 if the privacy-focused cryptocurrency grows to 10% of Bitcoin's market capitalization, outlining an aggressive scenario built around rising demand for financial privacy.

Head of Research Zach Pandl argues that Zcash could become more relevant as artificial intelligence makes financial surveillance easier. ZEC remains worth less than 1% of Bitcoin's market value despite its recent rally, leaving substantial room for expansion if adoption accelerates.

Grayscale Maps Out ZEC's Upside

Grayscale's scenario links Zcash's potential price directly to the share of Bitcoin's market capitalization it can capture.

Pandl also pointed to Zcash's privacy technology, work on quantum-resistant security and improving cross-chain connectivity as potential advantages. Zcash uses zero-knowledge proofs to allow shielded transactions that can conceal transaction details, distinguishing it from Bitcoin's transparent ledger.

For readers unfamiliar with the asset, Coinpaper's evergreen Zcash guide explains the network's privacy model and how ZEC differs from Bitcoin and Monero.

Zcash ETF Adds an Institutional Catalyst

The projection arrives as institutional access to ZEC expands. Grayscale has launched the Zcash ETF (ZCSH) on NYSE Arca after converting its existing trust, creating the first U.S.-listed exchange-traded product dedicated to ZEC.

Grayscale says the vehicle had approximately $260 million in assets around its launch and is passively invested in ZEC. Investors can review the product directly through Grayscale's official ZCSH page and its SEC-filed prospectus.

The launch follows months of regulatory progress. ZEC recently rallied as Grayscale's amended ETF filing moved closer to completion, while another catalyst came from the network's July Ironwood upgrade, which addressed a vulnerability in the Orchard shielded pool.

An $8,100 Target Requires Major Adoption

ZEC was trading around $790 when the forecast emerged after gaining roughly 70% over the preceding period and about 350% year to date. Even after that advance, reaching $8,100 would require another increase of roughly 925%.

That makes Grayscale's figure a scenario rather than a conventional price target. Zcash would have to capture a dramatically larger share of crypto investment, while overcoming competition from Bitcoin, other privacy assets and regulatory pressure surrounding anonymous transactions.

Still, the combination of ETF access, limited supply and renewed interest in financial privacy gives investors a clearer framework for assessing the Zcash thesis. The key question is no longer simply whether ZEC can rally, but whether Zcash can grow from a niche privacy network into an asset commanding a meaningful fraction of Bitcoin's valuation.
