HashKey Cloud and Utila are joining efforts to support institutional stablecoin use as banks and other financial firms move into digital assets. According to HashKey, these firms need better clearing, settlement, and risk controls to operate in the market.
HashKey Cloud Sees More Demand From Financial Institutions
Traditional financial firms are taking a closer look at digital assets. Their entry is bringing new demands, including ways to settle transactions, manage counterparty risk, and meet rules for financial operations.
HashKey Group Chairman and CEO Xiao Feng spoke about the shift at Hong Kong FinTech Week. He said demand for clearing and settlement services is rising as established financial institutions enter the digital asset market.
Their partnership aims to support institutional adoption of stablecoins at a time when firms need services that go beyond simply buying or holding digital tokens. Notably, they need to know how payments are handled, risks are managed, and compliance needs are met.

Xiao Feng said HashKey will focus on clearing and related financial infrastructure for institutional clients. He did not share specific details about the partnership’s products, launch date, or planned services.
Feng’s remarks highlight the needs HashKey expects to address. As more financial firms enter digital assets, clearing and settlement are becoming part of the conversation.
Clearing, Settlement, and Risk Management Take Priority
Clearing and settlement help complete financial transactions between parties. In digital assets, these services are important for institutions that want to handle transactions in a controlled way.
Counterparty risk is another concern. It refers to the chance that the other party in a transaction may fail to meet its obligations. Financial firms need ways to manage this risk before expanding their activities.
Xiao Feng said the move by traditional institutions into digital assets has increased demand for these services. He also stressed the need for compliant operations, indicating that firms are seeking systems that align with their existing duties.
Institutions may also need to connect these services with systems they already use. That can make the move into digital assets more demanding than a simple transfer. The announcement gives no further detail on how this part of the work will be handled.
The partnership between HashKey Cloud and Utila comes against this backdrop. The companies are seeking to support institutions’ use of stablecoins, while the wider market is paying more attention to the services that enable digital asset transactions. The companies have not yet named clients, stablecoins, or how they will divide their work.
Stablecoin Market Tops $308 Billion
CoinMarketCap data showed that stablecoin market capitalization was about $308.33 billion at press time. Their daily trading volume was roughly $45.76 billion.
Tether, known as USDT, is the largest stablecoin on the list, with a market value near $179.9 billion. USDC follows at about $71.28 billion. Ethena USDe and Dai are listed at approximately $4.56 billion and $4.55 billion, respectively.
Ripple USD, or RLUSD, has a market capitalization of about $2.43 billion in the image. Other listed tokens include World Liberty Financial USD, PayPal USD, Global Dollar, and USDD.
These figures show the size of the stablecoin sector today. Xiao Feng also said future changes in who uses money could affect digital finance. He pointed to AI agents and intelligent robots as potential users, while noting that new ways of creating digital assets may bring traditional and digital finance closer together.
For HashKey Cloud and Utila, the main issue is preparing for institutions that want to use stablecoins within financial operations. Their partnership reflects a market in which firms are seeking clearer processes for settlement, risk control, and compliance as they enter digital assets.
