A Bridgeless Approach to Blockchain Interoperability

@hedera has contributed CLPR (pronounced "clipper"), the bridgeless Cross-Ledger Protocol developed by @hashgraph, to @lfdecentralized (Linux Foundation Decentralized Trust) as a new open-source lab. The move opens the codebase to developers worldwide and represents a meaningful step forward in the long-running effort to make blockchain networks natively interoperable.

Today, blockchain networks largely operate as isolated ecosystems, each with its own consensus rules, token standards, and execution environment. Assets issued on one ledger generally cannot interact natively with another. Workarounds such as bridges and wrapped assets have emerged to fill the gap, but they introduce additional security risks, intermediaries, and liquidity requirements.

CLPR takes a different approach. It uses cryptographic state proofs so that independent blockchain networks can directly verify each other's states, with no intermediaries required. When an application is built on top of it, CLPR can enable assets, data, and messages to move securely across ledgers without bridges, pooled liquidity, or intermediary validator networks. The ideas behind the protocol trace back to Dr. Leemon Baird, co-founder of Hedera and designer of the Hashgraph consensus algorithm.

As an LFDT lab, CLPR enters a structured incubation phase. The lab framework allows projects to build a technical community and invite contributions before applying for top-level LFDT project status. Developers can review the code, propose use cases, and contribute to its ongoing development via the LFDT Labs GitHub repository.

Hashgraph Calls on Banks and Fintechs to Join Testnet Program

Alongside the open-source contribution, @hashgraph has launched a Cross-Ledger Early Adopter Program and is recruiting participants. Financial institutions, fintechs, asset issuers, liquidity providers, and corporations are all invited to apply. The program is structured around three use cases: cross-border payments and in-flight FX, cross-ledger settlement, and collateral mobility.

The three-phased virtual program gives selected participants full access to a Hashgraph-hosted testnet environment where they can move real test assets using a CLPR-enabled application layer. Each technical participant is also assigned a dedicated integration expert. The program intends to draw participants from multiple countries so that cross-border regulatory and compliance considerations are built in from the start.

CLPR remains early-stage, but the combination of an open-source donation and a structured industry testnet gives the protocol a clearer path toward broader adoption than a typical closed corporate rollout.
