Cardano founder @IOHK_Charles is redirecting community engagement away from X, setting up a new Cardano Discord server while continuing to use the existing Midnight Discord for what he is calling a "great migration" away from the platform's toxicity.
Hoskinson says the new Cardano Discord, being built with @phillip_pon, will feature well-moderated channels designed to cut out the drama and misinformation he associates with X. He cited an analysis of 130 replies to his posts, 35 of which were hostile or abusive, as part of his reasoning. Going forward, AMA questions will be taken exclusively from the Cardano and Midnight Discord servers. He will continue streaming to his roughly one million X followers, but direct community interaction is moving off the platform. To those suggesting the setup signals a return to normal engagement on X, his response was blunt: "I can't solve stupid."
The community push comes at a bruising moment for the Cardano ecosystem. ADA fell below $0.20 for the first time in more than five years before recovering toward $0.17, and the token remained about 70% lower over the past year. It is also down more than 93% from its 2021 all-time high of $3.09.
TapTools closed after four years of operation, citing conditions that made continued development difficult. JPG Store, which had operated as Cardano's leading NFT marketplace since 2021, also shut its doors permanently in late May. The cancellation of Cardano Summit 2026 in Singapore came after a treasury funding proposal failed to reach the required two-thirds supermajority under Cardano's governance rules.
Despite the turbulence, development has not stalled. The Leios testnet is scheduled to launch in June 2026, marking the transition of Ouroboros Leios from years of academic research and extensive simulations into real-world deployment.IOG states the protocol is designed to deliver a 10x to 65x increase in throughput, potentially enabling Cardano to process more than 1,000 transactions per second. Whether a quieter, Discord-first communication strategy can help stabilize community sentiment remains to be seen, but Hoskinson's direction is clear: the conversation is moving, and X is not invited.
