Aptos is used as a settlement layer for stablecoin transfers and cross-border payments. Payment firms such as Yellow Card, Bitso and Coins.ph move USDT and USDC on the network. On custodial platforms such as Bitso and Coins.ph, network costs run below $0.001 per transaction.

As of October 26, 2026, stablecoins on Aptos had a market cap of $866.66 million, according to DefiLlama. Tether’s USDT is the largest, followed by Circle’s USDC and BlackRock’s BUIDL fund.

Which Stablecoins Run On Aptos?

Aptos hosts the two largest dollar stablecoins plus several others. According to DefiLlama’s October 26 data, the biggest holdings are:

  • USDT: $466.56 million
  • USDC: $223.41 million
  • BUIDL: $157.13 million. This is BlackRock’s tokenized money market fund, not a stablecoin in the strict sense, but DefiLlama counts it in the total.

PayPal’s PYUSD is also available on Aptos through PYUSD0, a version that uses the LayerZero messaging protocol to extend the stablecoin beyond its native networks. Ethena’s USDe is used in Aptos-based DeFi applications.

The total has fallen from its peak. An annual report by Token Relations put Aptos’s stablecoin market cap at an all-time high of $1.95 billion in May 2026. DefiLlama showed it down 8.09% in the seven days to October 26.

How Do Payments Work On Aptos?

Three technical features make Aptos suited to high-volume payments.

Parallel Execution And Low Fees

Aptos uses Block-STM, a system that processes independent transactions at the same time. If two transactions conflict, it detects this and re-runs only the affected ones. Smart contracts are written in Move, a language that treats assets as distinct objects and rules out whole classes of smart contract bugs.

Fees are tiny. Per reports, on custodial platforms such as Bitso and Coins.ph, network costs come in below $0.001 per transaction. It also notes that Aptos burns the gas fees paid on every transaction, removing APT from circulation.

Gas Sponsorship

Gas sponsorship means a company pays the network fee on the user’s behalf. Yellow Card’s transfers on Aptos work this way, so users can send USDT or USDC without ever holding APT.

Native USDC Transfers

On August 26, 2026, Circle’s Cross-Chain Transfer Protocol (CCTP) V2 went live on Aptos. CCTP burns USDC on one chain and mints it on another, so no wrapped token is needed. V2 enables native USDC transfers onto Aptos in seconds.

Who Uses Aptos For Payments?

Aptos highlighted its payment partners in an October 31 post on X. The main ones are:

  • Yellow Card: A pan-African firm that moves USDC and USDT on Aptos across 20 countries. The service launched with instant, gas-sponsored transfers in July 2025.
  • Bitso: Under an August 2025 partnership, Latin America’s crypto platform gives its 9 million customers access to USDT and USDC on Aptos, including in the US-Mexico remittance corridor.
  • Coins(.)ph: Supports USDT deposits and withdrawals on Aptos for more than 5 million verified users in the Philippines.
  • Daya and HashKey MENA: These firms are piloting a regulated stablecoin corridor between Africa and the Middle East, with Aptos as the settlement layer.

The Daya corridor targets a costly market. Sending $200 to Sub-Saharan Africa costs 7.9% in fees on average, the highest of any region, according to World Bank figures. Under the pilot, a UAE company converts local currency into stablecoins through HashKey MENA, which is regulated by Dubai’s Virtual Assets Regulatory Authority (VARA). Daya then settles in local currency across Africa.

Aptos was also named a launch partner for Mastercard’s Crypto Partner Program, according to an April 1, 2026 post from Aptos.

Conclusion

Aptos settles stablecoin payments with sub-cent costs, parallel execution through Block-STM and gas sponsorship that removes the need to hold APT. It hosts $866.66 million in stablecoins, led by USDT and USDC, and supports native USDC transfers through CCTP V2. Yellow Card, Bitso and Coins.ph use it across Africa, Latin America and the Philippines, while a Middle East to Africa corridor is in pilot. APT trades near $0.62.
