XRP holders often debate whether 1,000, 10,000, or even 100,000 tokens could eventually provide enough money for retirement. The answer depends on something far more uncertain than the number of tokens alone. XRP price would need to reach a specific target, and the holder would need to keep enough tokens until that target arrives.

Matthew Perry recently examined this question on his YouTube channel. His calculations use a $1 million portfolio as the retirement target and then work backward from several possible XRP price predictions.

The results range from 26,000 XRP to 200,000 XRP. However, those numbers depend on ambitious future prices that remain far above the current XRP price.

Matthew Perry Uses $1 Million as His XRP Retirement Target

Matthew Perry based his calculations on a $1 million retirement portfolio. A 2026 Northwestern Mutual study found that Americans believe they need about $1.46 million to retire comfortably, though Perry used the lower figure to keep his calculations simple.

A $1 million portfolio could theoretically provide $40,000 each year under the widely cited 4% withdrawal rule. Actual retirement needs would still depend on living costs, taxes, debt, healthcare expenses, location, and retirement length.

XRP traded near $1.05 when Perry recorded the video. He reported a market capitalization of $66.21 billion, trading volume of $1.36 billion, and circulating supply of approximately 62.5 billion tokens.

Buying enough XRP to create $1 million immediately would require close to 952,000 tokens at $1.05. Perry does not consider that a practical strategy. His calculation assumes someone buys fewer XRP tokens now and waits for XRP price to increase substantially.

Future XRP Price Targets Produce Very Different Token Requirements

Perry reviewed several hypothetical XRP price targets between 2027 and 2035. Each scenario divides the $1 million goal by the projected XRP price.

His estimates can be summarized as follows:

PeriodHypothetical XRP PriceXRP Needed for $1 MillionApproximate Cost Near $1.102027$5200,000 XRP$220,0002028$9111,000 XRP$122,0002029$1567,000 XRP$73,0002030$2836,000 XRP$39,0002030 to 2032$2442,000 XRP$46,0002030 to 2034$3231,000 XRP$34,0002035$3826,000 XRP$29,000

These figures represent mathematical scenarios rather than guaranteed outcomes. XRP reaching $38 would give 26,000 tokens a value close to $1 million. However, XRP would need to increase by more than 3,400% from a price near $1.10.

The required valuation would also be enormous if the circulating supply remained close to its present level. This makes adoption, market liquidity, regulation, and Ripple’s business progress crucial parts of the calculation.

Matthew Perry Believes 50,000 XRP Offers More Flexibility

Matthew Perry believes 26,000 XRP could theoretically produce $1 million if XRP price reaches $38. His personal estimate moves closer to 50,000 tokens because many holders may sell part of their position before the highest target arrives.

A position can become emotionally difficult to hold after producing a large gain. Someone who invested $29,000 might decide to sell after the value reaches $200,000 or $500,000. Selling half would reduce the number of tokens available if XRP later reached $38.

Perry therefore presented 3 broad XRP holdings:

  • About 26,000 XRP could reach $1 million at $38.
  • About 50,000 XRP could provide room for partial sales.
  • About 200,000 XRP could reach $1 million at $5.

The 200,000 token estimate requires the lowest XRP price target, though purchasing that amount near $1.10 would cost approximately $220,000. The 26,000 token estimate requires much less starting capital, though it depends on XRP price reaching a far more demanding level.

No single number guarantees a comfortable retirement. Someone with low expenses and no debt may require less than $1 million. Another person with higher costs or a longer retirement period may require considerably more.

XRP Utility Forms the Foundation of Perry’s Bullish Expectations

Perry connects his XRP price outlook to Ripple’s role in cross-border payments and the broader XRP Ledger ecosystem. He pointed to Ripple’s reported relationships with more than 300 financial institutions, ongoing discussions with governments, and the possibility of Ripple becoming a publicly traded company.

Greater payment usage could support XRP if that activity creates direct demand for the token. Ripple’s business growth would not automatically produce the same increase in XRP price because Ripple and XRP are connected but remain different entities.

Supply also matters. XRP has almost 100 billion tokens in total supply, which means extreme prices require very large network valuations. A $100 or $1,000 XRP price would therefore demand levels of capital far beyond the present market.

Perry considers targets below $100 more realistic than claims involving $10,000 or $100,000. Even his lower projections require major adoption and a much stronger crypto market.

An Earlier XRP Price Outlook Points to Lower Midterm Targets

An earlier article examined the XRP price outlook across the next 6 to 12 months. XRP currently trades near $1.07 and has a market capitalization of approximately $67.93 billion.

Recent XRP market readings include:

  • A 24 hour increase of 2.61%
  • A 7 day decline of 3.96%
  • A 30 day increase of 3.69%
  • A 1 year decline of 65.62%
  • A loss of about 72% from its record high

A look at the XRP chart shows support across the upper $0.90 and lower $1 region. Resistance remains between $1.40 and $1.50 after XRP retreated from a 90 day high near $1.47.

The earlier outlook presented 3 possible scenarios:

ScenarioMain ConditionsPossible XRP Price RangeBearishWeak macro conditions, regulatory problems, or lost support near $1$0.70 to $0.95Base CaseStable market, gradual Ripple adoption, and no major legal setback$0.90 to $1.80BullishPositive regulation, payment growth, and greater altcoin demand$1.80 to above $2

None of these midterm scenarios comes close to Perry’s retirement targets. XRP would first need to reclaim $1.40 to $1.50 before the lower $2 region becomes a realistic chart target.

Perry’s calculations show that the number of XRP tokens required for retirement cannot be separated from the future XRP price. Someone may need 200,000 XRP at $5 or only 26,000 XRP at $38. The difficult question concerns whether XRP can reach those prices and whether holders would retain enough tokens throughout the journey.

FAQs

Will XRP reach $1000 dollars?

XRP hitting $1,000 is mathematically and economically implausible. It would require a market capitalization of roughly $60 trillion, which is double the U.S. GDP and vastly larger than the entire global stock and crypto markets combined.

How high will XRP go in 2026?

Most mainstream crypto analysts project XRP to trade between $2.00 and $4.00 by the end of 2026, with bullish targets stretching up to $4.94 and conservative estimates hovering near $1.50 to $2.00.
