Internet Computer Protocol ($ICP) is closing the gap with @Solana in network activity, according to ChainSpect's 30-day transaction-volume rankings. The @dfinity-backed blockchain has recorded 3.76 billion transactions over the past 30 days, while Solana has logged 4.88 billion over the same period.
The two networks sit in a league of their own. Transaction volume in the measured window reached 4.24 billion for Solana and 3.39 billion for Internet Computer in an August reading, and the latest figures show $ICP continuing to narrow that margin. Other major networks including BNB Chain, TRON, and Aptos lag significantly behind, with each posting well under 500 million transactions in comparable windows.
Transaction volume is a measure of network activity, not financial throughput. The figures do not reflect the total value of onchain financial transactions. That distinction matters, particularly for Internet Computer, whose architecture counts a broader class of computational events than most other chains.
On Internet Computer, a "transaction" is a smart contract call to a "canister," meaning CPU-intensive activities such as AI inference and onchain database queries are tallied alongside conventional token transfers.Transaction volume alone does not confirm equivalent growth in active users, network revenue, or application adoption.
ChainSpect's blockchain rankings track live network data rather than theoretical benchmarks, allowing users to see which networks are currently processing the most transactions and how their performance changes over time.
The current figures continue a trend that has drawn attention throughout 2026. As recently as May, ICP led all major blockchains in 30-day transaction volume at 6.5 billion, more than double Solana's 2.9 billion, per ChainSpect. Solana has since reasserted its lead in the monthly rankings, but $ICP remains the only other network consistently competing at the same scale.
ICP's high count is partly a function of its architecture and low-cost computation, so the figure alone does not mean ICP is more economically active than Solana. Still, the sustained proximity to Solana in activity rankings keeps $ICP relevant in conversations about high-throughput blockchain infrastructure.
