The timing could not have felt better. In July 2025, XRP hit $3.65, riding the wave of Ripple's partial legal victory against the SEC, the launch of spot XRP ETFs, and a broader crypto market that was still running hot.

Anyone who put $1,000 in at that peak bought roughly 273 XRP.

Today, with XRP trading near $1.09, that position is worth approximately $298. A loss of just over 70 percent in twelve months.

What changed, and what did not

The frustrating part for XRP holders is that the fundamentals have not gone backwards. They have gone forward, significantly.

Ripple Prime joined the DTCC's NSCC participant directory in March 2026, placing XRP-linked infrastructure inside the clearing rails that process trillions in daily settlement volume.

The XRP Ledger now hosts $3.5 billion in tokenized real-world assets, up from $991 million at the start of the year.

Agentic transactions on the ledger crossed 1 million this month, RippleX expects that number to hit 10 million soon. RLUSD, Ripple's stablecoin, has reached a $1.72 billion market cap in under a year.

None of it has moved the price.

The SEC lawsuit is settled but the broader regulatory uncertainty around XRP has not entirely cleared.

The CLARITY Act, which would provide the definitive framework that XRP holders have been waiting on, currently has 42 percent passage odds on Polymarket after the White House missed its July 4 signing target.

Without it, institutional inflows into spot XRP ETFs have slowed sharply. The funds attracted $1.3 billion at launch but 2026 inflows have nearly stopped.

Standard Chartered cut its 2026 XRP target from $8 to $2.80 in February. It kept its 2030 target at $28.

Where the price needs to go

XRP needs to close above $1.44, its 200-day moving average, to shift the technical picture from negative to neutral. Until that happens the fundamental story and the price story remain two separate conversations.

The asset has everything it needs to recover. It just needs the market to start pricing what it has already built.
