An investor who put $1,000 into XRP on the day Donald Trump took office would now have about $452, based on the cryptocurrency’s price at the time and its current value.

Trump was inaugurated as the 47th U.S. president on Jan. 20, 2025. XRP was priced at approximately $3.10 on that day, as per the historical data. At $3.10 per XRP, a $1,000 investment would have purchased 322.58 XRP.

This assumes the entire investment was made at that price and excludes trading fees, taxes and other transaction costs.

What $1,000 would be worth today

As per the data from decibel, with XRP currently trading at approximately $1.40, the 322.58 XRP purchased on Jan. 20, 2025 would now be worth about $451.61.

That means the original $1,000 investment would have declined by approximately $548.39, representing a 54.84% loss.

The investor would therefore have about 45.16% of the original investment remaining at the current XRP price.

XRP’s price has moved significantly since Trump’s inauguration, including periods when the cryptocurrency traded well above its Jan. 20 level. Historical data shows XRP reached substantially higher prices during the period before subsequently moving lower.

The calculation does not account for any additional purchases, sales or other transactions made after the initial investment.

At the current price of $1.40, however, a $1,000 XRP investment made when Trump took office would stand at approximately $451.61 today.

What's the latest on XRP

Ripple just unlocked 1 billion XRP. On Sept 1, blockchain tracker Whale Alert flagged three separate transactions, 500 million, 400 million, and 100 million XRP from Ripple's escrow system.

For investors tracking XRP's recent momentum, a 71.8% rally from $0.988 to $1.698, a confirmed technical breakout flagged by analyst Ali Martinez, and $105 million in weekly ETF inflows, the escrow release is the variable most likely to introduce near-term selling pressure.

Last month, the active addresses on the XRP ledger surged 654.71%, jumping from 47,180 to 356,070, a spike that crypto analyst said typically signals higher network participation and incoming price volatility.
