Injective has launched the Super Intelligence Compute Index (SICI), an onchain benchmark that lets traders take exposure to @nvidia GPU rental prices through perpetual futures with up to 10x leverage. The move extends the blockchain's push into unconventional real-world asset markets tied to the AI economy.
How the SICI index works
$SICI combines five GPU rental prices into one index. According to PANews, the index is based on hourly data from the compute market and weights its components as follows: H100 (40%), B200 (25%), H200 (15%), A100 (10%) and RTX 4090 (10%).
Crypto Briefing compares the structure to a stock index, except that the components are hourly prices for renting chips rather than company shares. Exposure comes through perpetual futures, which are derivatives with no expiry date. Traders can hold a long or short position for as long as they keep it funded, Crypto Briefing reports.
The aim is to address fragmented compute pricing, which currently varies across cloud providers and hardware types. A single weighted index gives traders and AI builders one reference point rather than several separate quotes. Injective has said it plans to launch further financial products tied to SICI in the coming days, PANews reports.
Building on Injective's earlier GPU market
SICI is not Injective's first move into compute pricing. Injective's own announcement shows it launched an onchain market for tokenized Nvidia H100 rental rates in collaboration with compute markets firm Squaretower, with a price feed that updates every hour.
Uptake of that earlier product was small. Messari research put cumulative volume on the H100 perpetual at $12,185 since its August 2025 launch, a negligible share of Injective's overall activity. That figure is dated, and it is unclear how much demand a broader five-chip index will attract.
Injective's wider real-world asset perpetuals business has been considerably larger. Messari reported that cumulative RWA perpetual volume on the network reached about $1.68 billion year to date in an earlier report, led by equities, with index perpetuals contributing $162.3 million.
Whether traders and AI companies adopt compute price derivatives at scale remains to be seen. As Crypto Briefing notes, leveraged products carry risks, and a benchmark is only as useful as the liquidity and data behind it. For now, SICI gives the market a single, tradable gauge of what it costs to rent the chips that power AI.
