InterLink Network has launched a beta version of its QR Payment tool on the ITLX Wallet, allowing users to pay with $ITL on the InterLink mainnet. The rollout is led by @ATV_Interlink.

Stores or individuals can sign up to become payment points, the entities that display a QR code and accept $ITL from customers. To encourage early sign-ups, a Check-In Task pays new payment points up to 3 ITL. @inter_link plans to add $ITLG payments next.

How the QR payment tool works

The model follows familiar mobile wallet payments. Merchants generate a QR code that customers can scan to make payments. Buyers pay for goods or services using $ITL, giving the token a use as a spendable currency. A single merchant can also generate multiple QR payment points, which suits businesses with several stores, branches or checkout counters.

The ATV program has set a broader target. It aims to expand on-chain payment outlets to 10,000, building a physical acceptance network for $ITL. Commentary on the program has noted that buyers and merchants can both receive ATV tokens after successful transactions. The launch announcement does not mention these rewards, so their status in the beta is unclear.

InterLink has offered QR-based payments in other forms before. Its app store listing says InterLink QR Payment lets users pay bills with crypto in Nigeria, Vietnam, the Philippines, Brazil and Mexico. InterLink's own guide says that payment infrastructure relies on third-party providers, so availability depends on the partner's supported regions. The new tool differs in that it settles in $ITL on the project's own mainnet.

ITL and ITLG: why the token matters

InterLink runs a two-token system. ITL supports everyday transactions and ecosystem utility, while ITLG gives users a role in governance and participation. Adding $ITLG as a payment option would widen the range of assets usable at payment points, though no timeline was given.

The project positions itself around verified identity. The InterLink App is where users verify their identity, the ITLX Wallet is where assets are stored, traded and spent, and the InterLink Chain settles transactions. InterLink's guide adds that payment features are identity-gated so that only verified humans can access them.

As this is a beta, features, rewards and supported regions may change. Merchant uptake will determine whether the tool gives $ITL meaningful real-world use.
