Pi Network's venture arm is drawing praise from within the industry. @SibleNetworkAI CEO @chrisP_sible has described @PiCoreTeam's $PI Ventures as "the most effective blockchain VC fund right now". He pointed to Axis Robotics and OpenMind, two Pi Network portfolio companies linked to recent airdrop activity.

What Pi Network Ventures has backed

Pi Network Ventures is the investment arm of the Pi ecosystem. BeInCrypto reported that Pi Network launched the $100 million Ventures initiative in May 2025. The Pi Core Team said the fund aims to back startups that can strengthen the ecosystem by improving the utility and real-world adoption of Pi Coin.

Its first disclosed investment was OpenMind, which develops an operating system and open-source protocol for robots, often described as "Android for robots". Pi Network's own announcement said the investment fits its aim of using blockchain to solve real-world problems. A related proof-of-concept had volunteer Pi Node operators run AI models for OpenMind, according to the Chainwire press release dated November 3, 2025.

OpenMind's earlier $20 million round included Pi Network Ventures alongside other investors. CoinGape reported that Pantera Capital, Coinbase Ventures, Ribbit Capital and Sequoia China also took part.

Axis Robotics and the wider debate

Pi Network Ventures also joined a $12 million seed round for Axis Robotics in July 2026, according to Hokanews. That report said the round included Hack VC, Nomad Capital and 10K Ventures, and described Axis Robotics as building data infrastructure to train robots. Hokanews is a smaller outlet, and its account relied on information shared by the Pi community.

Not everyone sees the investments as a clear win for token holders. A crypto.news analysis said association with the OpenMind syndicate is a form of validation Pi has rarely had. It also argued the investment adds no token demand, burn, user-facing utility or revenue at present.

The praise from the Sible Network AI chief reflects a favourable view of the fund's deal selection. Whether the portfolio translates into measurable benefits for $PI holders is a separate question that the available evidence does not yet answer.
