Veteran trader Peter Brandt made his position on XRP clear in his latest post. He said owning XRP does not require cult-like conviction in the asset. He argued the charts alone are sufficient reason to take a position.

He distinguished between open-mindedness and poor judgment. Although he attached a weekly XRP chart marking a potential inverse head & shoulders pattern at current price levels as a bullish sign, he isn’t part of the vocal community members.

Details of the Chart

XRP sits at $1.52. Brandt’s labels near recent price action identify the shoulders and head of the forming pattern. The structure sits at the upper boundary of a completed symmetrical triangle, the same boundary XRP broke above in late 2024 during a surge of over 500%.

A descending triangle between 2014 and 2017 resolved into the sharp 2018 breakout. The larger symmetrical triangle followed, with converging boundaries that gave way in late 2024. After that breakout, XRP consolidated, pulled back, and now retests the lower boundary of a horizontal channel.

Brandt’s Price Target

Brandt previously stated his long-term XRP target as $5.40. He was clear that sharing a chart is not a trade recommendation. “People who claim ‘trades’ need to provide proof or else the claims are BS,” he wrote. The $5.40 level represents roughly 262% upside from the current price.

Brandt’s technical outlook sits alongside real skepticism about XRP’s fundamentals. He has questioned whether transactional utility alone justifies the valuation and raised concerns about supply clarity. He sees Bitcoin as a cleaner story because of its store-of-value case. He now sees parts of the XRP army as a cult, but he still follows the charts.

How the Community Responded

The community responses were substantial. One community member noted the similarity between the current setup and the earlier compression pattern, calling the resemblance striking.

Another saw the potential inverse head and shoulders pattern differently, questioning whether the pattern carried bearish rather than bullish weight. He asked how traders would approach it without shorting.

A third went further, identifying $2.42 as a potential trade exit target for the inverse head and shoulders, with $2.80 as an alternative level supported by mid-range Fibonacci and weekly liquidity.

BankXRP, a prominent community figure, also weighed in, stating that XRP’s future would speak for itself. Brandt remains one of the few analysts willing to post a bullish technical target on XRP while publicly questioning its fundamental case. The chart is doing the talking.
