@chainlink and LG CNS, the technology arm of LG Group, have announced a strategic partnership aimed at the infrastructure behind Korea's digital asset market. According to a joint press release, the deal was announced on Oct. 22, 2026, and covers a market the companies value at $68 billion.

What the partnership covers

The partnership brings the full Chainlink platform into LG CNS's ongoing work in building digital asset platform solutions for Korean institutions, and establishes a joint effort on technical standards underpinning Korea's digital asset economy.LG CNS and Chainlink are also expanding the utility and distribution of Korean stablecoins, in a market with more than 11 million eligible users.

Chainlink Labs Chief Business Officer Johann Eid said in the release that the combination of LG CNS's institutional expertise and Chainlink's technology standards establishes the foundation for compliant digital asset infrastructure in Korea.

The announcement ties Chainlink to the LG CNS digital asset platform. Genfinity noted that the release names no launch dates, partner banks or target blockchains yet, and that it links Chainlink to the platform rather than to Project Hangang itself.

The tie-up follows an earlier agreement. The Korea Times reported that when LG CNS launched its KITL blockchain infrastructure platform on Oct. 6, it also signed memorandums of understanding with Circle Internet Group, Securitize, Canton Foundation, Chainalysis and Chainlink.

LG CNS's role in Project Hangang

LG CNS is the lead contractor for the Bank of Korea's Project Hangang, a digital currency pilot. The company is responsible for building, operating and expanding the country's digital currency infrastructure, and the project's first phase involved approximately 80,000 customers across seven Korean banks.

Participants in that phase used deposit tokens. Genfinity reported that these represent commercial bank deposits rather than a direct central bank liability.

LG Group is one of Korea's largest business groups, with approximately ₩186 trillion (about $140 billion) in assets across 63 affiliates. For Chainlink, the deal gives its data and cross-chain tools a route into a contractor already embedded in Korea's central bank digital currency work. Final Korean stablecoin rules are still pending, according to Genfinity, and are likely to shape which tokens institutions can move.
