On-Chain Data Puts Litecoin Near an Address Record
Litecoin ($LTC) is approaching 8.9 million addresses holding a balance, according to the latest blockchain explorer data. The count stands at 8,916,460, a figure that has climbed steadily since 2017 and sits close to an all-time high for the network.
In the past 24 hours alone, 144,949 transactions were confirmed on the chain. Since the @litecoin network launched in 2011, it has recorded 409,313,865 transactions in total. That cumulative figure has been building rapidly: the network processed 20 million transactions in the first four months of 2026 alone, a pace that once took two full years to achieve.
A Payment Network, Not Just a Trading Asset
The Litecoin Foundation (@LTCFoundation) has consistently pointed to the spread of balance-holding addresses as evidence that $LTC functions as a genuine payment network rather than a speculative trading venue. The argument is supported by activity data beyond the address count. Payment processor CoinGate reported that Litecoin accounted for up to 14.9% of all its transactions at points during 2025, with 5% of those payments retained on merchant balance sheets rather than converted to fiat, a signal of growing merchant confidence.
Litecoin has maintained 100% network uptime for more than 14 years, and its low transaction fees and fast settlement speeds have kept it among the leading cryptocurrencies for everyday payments. On a daily active-address basis, Litecoin has also emerged as the most-used proof-of-work peer-to-peer cryptocurrency, recently logging 237,064 active addresses in a single 24-hour period.
For the @LTCFoundation, the steady rise in balance-holding wallets tells a story that price charts do not always capture: a broad, distributed user base is storing and moving value on the network, not just trading in and out of it. Whether that translates into price appreciation remains an open question, but the on-chain foundation continues to strengthen.
