Popular crypto analytics platform Zapper is going to shut down, co-founder and CEO Seb Audet announced on July 8.

Founded in 2019, Zapper is a decentralized finance (DeFi) dashboard and portfolio tracker. In a seed round led by Framework Ventures and Libertus Capital, the platform raised a $1.5 million in 2020.

Zapper secured $15 million in Series A raise at the peak of the crypto market in 2021, led by Framework Ventures and joined by Mark Cuban and Ashton Kutcher’s Sound Ventures.

But the platform is shutting down after nearly seven years, Audet said.

What began as a personal portfolio tracker for him turned into a popular analytics platform that served more than 2 million monthly active users and processed more than $13 billion in transaction volume at its peak, the co-founder said.

But after evaluating different options, some pursued to the fullest extent possible, he recently realized that an orderly wind down is the best course of action, Audet revealed.

The goal was to make DeFi more accessible and even if the platform failed to realize the mission, it succeeded in making the onchain economy "significantly easier to use for a considerable number of people," he added.

Zapper’s services, including the official website, mobile apps, and API services, will completely shut down on Aug. 3, Audet informed. Existing API users will receive an email about the transition, he added.

Audet also urged the crypto industry to hire developers and operations executives who built Zapper over the years and turned it into a popular avenue for crypto and DeFi users.
