@Mastercard and @BVNKFinance have launched the Global Money Platform, a product that lets banks, fintechs and businesses offer accounts holding regular currencies and stablecoins side by side. The launch is the first major product integration between the companies since Mastercard acquired BVNK in August 2026. The platform is available now through BVNK.

What the Global Money Platform offers

The platform allows banks, fintechs and enterprises to integrate fiat currencies and stablecoins into their financial products through a single API.It supports multi-currency accounts, real-time conversion, stablecoin-linked cards and local bank payouts.

At the core is a global money account. Financial institutions and technology companies can embed these accounts into their own products, giving customers one place to manage funds, convert currencies and pay out earnings. The design is modular, so customers can adopt individual services and expand without connecting separate providers at each stage of a transaction, Mastercard said.

Payouts run through Mastercard Move. Through that integration, which reaches more than 17 billion endpoints, customers can use stablecoin balances to make local currency payments directly into recipients' bank accounts, according to Mastercard.Coverage is expected to expand to more than 40 currencies across 200-plus countries and territories in 2027. On the card side, users can spend stablecoin balances across Mastercard's acceptance network, with card issuing available across 130-plus countries.

Nuvei and Marqeta will be among the first to integrate the platform, alongside Ontop, Beem and Almond FinTech.

Background: Mastercard's BVNK deal

Mastercard agreed in March 2026 to acquire BVNK for up to $1.8 billion, made up of $1.5 billion upfront and up to $300 million in contingent payments tied to performance targets. The company completed the acquisition on August 3, 2026.Founded in 2021, BVNK provides infrastructure that enables businesses to send and receive payments across major blockchain networks.

At the time of closing, Jorn Lambert, Mastercard's chief product officer, said stablecoins are increasingly addressing real-world needs in areas like cross-border B2B payments, remittances, payouts, settlement and treasury flows.

The new platform puts that strategy into a commercial product. By bundling accounts, conversion, cards and payouts behind one integration, Mastercard is positioning stablecoins as another form of money that sits alongside traditional currencies inside bank and fintech products, rather than a separate system that needs its own set of providers. Future plans include support for agentic commerce and tokenized deposits.
