Five blockchains have been nominated for "Best Layer-1 Blockchain" at the AIBC World awards in Rome. The shortlist includes Avalanche (@Avax$AVAX), Litecoin (@Litecoin$LTC), Dash (@Dashpay$DASH), TRON (@trondao$TRX) and Zano (@zano_project). The organiser, @AIBC_World, has not published an explanation of why these five were chosen.
What the award covers
According to AIBC's awards page, the Layer-1 category honours the blockchain that showcases technical excellence, scalability and developer adoption, providing robust infrastructure for decentralised applications and ecosystem growth. The same page sets out a process that has previously included open nominations and self-nominations, a public and judge vote on a shortlist, and a final awards night.
It is unclear whether the same process was used for the Rome shortlist, as no selection criteria have been published for this round. The five nominees differ widely in design and focus, which makes direct comparison difficult. Avalanche is a smart contract platform, while Litecoin and Dash are payment-focused networks that trace their origins to Bitcoin's early years.
Avalanche has some history with the organiser. It won Best Layer-1 Blockchain 2026 at the AIBC Eurasia Awards in Dubai in February. That ceremony was held on 10 February at Dubai Festival City.
About AIBC World in Rome
AIBC World runs from 2 to 5 November 2026 in Rome, Italy.Organisers plan to gather 30,000 delegates, 1,000 exhibitors and 300 speakers across AI, blockchain, fintech, gaming and digital innovation at Fiera Roma. The awards ceremony will recognise performers across AI, crypto, blockchain, fintech and emerging technology, and will also feature a charitable art auction.
Industry awards of this kind are typically a marketing and networking exercise as much as a measure of technical merit, so the outcome should not be read as a ranking of network quality. Winners are due to be announced at the ceremony during the November event.
Which of the five do you think deserves the prize?
