Crypto wallet @MetaMask has added @StellarOrg as a default network, a change that gives existing users direct access to Stellar and its native token, $XLM, from within the same app.
The integration went live on Oct. 29, according to TokenPost. MetaMask partnered with the Stellar Development Foundation to bring Stellar to both its mobile app and its browser extension.
Existing MetaMask accounts receive a Stellar address generated from their current recovery phrase, so users do not need a separate setup process, TokenPost reported. People who already hold Stellar accounts can import their recovery phrases into MetaMask to move those accounts across.
According to ChainCatcher, the Stellar network supports $XLM, $USDC and Soroban tokens within MetaMask. KuCoin News adds that users can also swap between Stellar and other supported networks.
Not every detail has been made public. Bloomingbit, citing a Cointelegraph report, noted that the change may not apply uniformly to all accounts and that eligibility criteria were not disclosed. KuCoin News also noted that the announcement did not include figures on how many users have activated Stellar accounts, funds transferred or swaps completed since launch.
MetaMask Chief Product Officer Gal Eldar placed the integration within the company's "Open Money" strategy, The Cryptonomist reported.
Why It Matters for Stellar Adoption
Stellar is an open-source network designed for financial products and services. The Stellar Development Foundation says it supports uses including remittances, commerce and public-sector payments, according to KuCoin News.
CoinMarketCap described the listing as a meaningful distribution and user experience catalyst for the ecosystem, giving tens of millions of MetaMask users a Stellar address. The same analysis linked a roughly 3 percentage point swing in $XLM over 16 hours to a cluster of announcements during Stellar's Meridian 2026 conference week, alongside a weaker broader market.
The MetaMask addition follows a busy year for the network. Stellar's tokenized real-world asset market grew to nearly $4 billion in 2026, according to Crypto.com's news tracker. In June, CCN reported that $XLM rose more than 80% in a week after DTCC and the Stellar Development Foundation announced plans to enable tokenization of DTC-custodied assets on the network.
Whether wallet access translates into sustained usage remains to be seen, as no activity data from the MetaMask rollout has been published so far.
