Michelle Kirby, a well-followed crypto researcher, has suggested that XRP investors face a pivotal moment after recent comments by former Federal Reserve Chair Jerome Powell. Kirby, known for her insights on digital assets, highlighted Powell’s announcement that the Fed plans to upgrade its payment infrastructure, which has been in place since the 1970s.
Kirby referenced XRP’s recent decline to $1.20 and below, expressing her view that large market participants deliberately suppressed the token’s price through coordinated sell orders. She stated this activity likely triggered stop-losses set by retail investors, forcing them to sell at lower levels. According to Kirby, once liquidity washed out weaker hands, buying activity from institutional players pushed the price up again.
She encouraged her audience to interpret these sell-offs as potential buying opportunities. Kirby described her long-term position on XRP as extremely committed, stating that her exit strategy is “death.” Despite her confidence in the asset, Kirby emphasized that she does not offer financial advice and presented her thoughts based solely on personal research.
Kirby remarked that large players may be manipulating $XRP price action by intentionally triggering retail stop-losses, resulting in buying opportunities for those willing to enter during periods of volatility.
Jerome Powell, who led the Federal Reserve—the central bank of the United States—until May 22, 2026, no longer serves as its chair. Kevin Warsh has taken over Chair responsibilities and now steers all policy and communications. Nonetheless, Powell remains on the Board of Governors, where his term extends until January 2028, and continues to vote on key Federal Reserve and Open Market Committee decisions.
Powell’s lengthy leadership has maintained his influence, and his recent comments about updating the nation’s payment systems are still seen as significant within financial markets.

XRP, the digital asset designed by Ripple Labs to facilitate fast and low-cost global payments, has been promoted as an answer to aging financial systems. Although Powell did not reference any cryptocurrency by name, Kirby and other longtime followers treat his modernization plans as potential validation for XRP’s longstanding value proposition in cross-border settlements.
Kirby argued that, rather than discouraging investors, recent price swings should be viewed as accumulation phases. She advised that holders remain patient and avoid reacting to volatility steered by large-volume trades.
Kirby urged that, for committed $XRP holders, volatility driven by institutional activity is a moment to accumulate rather than exit, as fundamentals remain unchanged despite market movement.
