TVL Hits $1 Billion Milestone
@monad has crossed $1 billion in total value locked (TVL), a significant milestone for a network that only went live less than a year ago. Monad's public mainnet launched on November 24, 2025, following three years of development and over $240 million raised across two funding rounds. The chain announced the achievement on X, with DefiLlama data showing $1.02 billion locked on the network, up 4.4% in the prior 24 hours. Chain fees over the same period came to approximately $14,400.
Monad's TVL has climbed from about $52 million at launch to over $1 billion today, representing one of the faster TVL ramp-ups for a new Layer 1 in recent memory. The network has also onboarded major applications such as Aave and MetaMask Money Account, alongside infrastructure such as BTX encrypted mempools.Monad positions itself within the competitive high-throughput Layer 1 space by emphasizing performance improvements enabled through parallel transaction execution, allowing multiple transactions to be processed simultaneously.
Token Lags Behind Network Growth
Despite the headline TVL figure, $MON has not kept pace with the network's on-chain progress. The native token currently trades at around $0.0257, barely above its $0.025 ICO price. MON's market cap sits at approximately $304 million against a fully diluted valuation of $2.93 billion, a wide gap that reflects ongoing uncertainty around future token supply.
The network faces a scheduled release of 6.66 billion MON in November, while the Monad Foundation announced a program in August to buy up to $60 million worth of locked MON from some early investors ahead of that unlock. While prominent DeFi protocols such as Uniswap, Curve, and Morpho are present on the network, the presence of protocols does not guarantee the presence of actual users, and if fee revenue does not scale with TVL, Monad risks joining the list of Layer 1s where capital sits idle chasing token incentives rather than productive yield.
The TVL milestone reinforces that developer and liquidity interest in the @monad ecosystem is real. Whether the $MON token can close the gap with broader network growth remains the open question heading into the final quarter of 2026.
