MoonPay has added Kamino, a lending protocol on the Solana blockchain, to PayBox, its payment vault built for AI assistants, allowing users to earn yield on crypto through a conversation with tools like Claude or ChatGPT.
The integration is live outside the United States, though not yet available to U.S. users.

PayBox connects to AI assistants through a custom connector, letting the AI prepare a transaction that the user approves with a passkey before any funds move.
According to MoonPay, wallet keys are secured through threshold cryptography and secure enclaves, so no single party, including MoonPay or the AI, can access a full key or authorize a transaction alone. Kamino, the protocol now embedded in the vault, powers a significant share of lending and yield products on Solana.
The feature lets users open a lending or borrowing position by instructing the AI directly, for example, "lend $500 USDC on Kamino" or "borrow against my SOL."
The AI prepares the transaction, the user approves it with a passkey, and the position opens, without visiting the protocol's website or a separate wallet interface.
The same controls that apply to other PayBox transactions apply here. Users can select "Always Ask," which requires passkey approval for each transaction, or "Autonomous," which lets the AI act within limits the user sets. Access can be revoked at any time.
MoonPay CEO and founder Ivan Soto-Wright framed the move as part of a broader shift toward "agentic finance," in which AI assistants handle financial tasks directly.
"Kamino is where a huge amount of real yield in DeFi already happens. Putting it inside PayBox means someone can earn without ever opening a separate app," he said.
Founded in 2019, MoonPay says it serves more than 30 million customers across 180 countries and holds a New York BitLicense along with MiCA authorization in the EU.
