Key Insights

  • MSTR stock trades near $97 as Strategy plans renewed Bitcoin buying in 2026.
  • Strategy holds 840,447 BTC after two recent sales raised $213.3 million.
  • MSTR daily share volume exceeds JPMorgan despite a far smaller market value.

MSTR stock traded near $97.33 on Tuesday after Strategy outlined plans to resume Bitcoin accumulation later in 2026. The share decline followed pressure across crypto markets, with the Bitcoin price near $63,400. Strategy CEO Phong Le said the company expects to buy more coins despite four recent treasury sales.

The company now holds 840,447 BTC, correcting the 846,000 BTC figure reported for the second quarter. Strategy sold 3,328 BTC for $213.3 million during its two most recent reporting periods. Its dollar reserve increased to $4.65 billion, giving management more flexibility for preferred dividends and share repurchases. Those moves have sharpened the focus on the firm’s capital model.

MSTR Stock Slides as Bitcoin Holds Near the $63,400 Mark

The Bitcoin price fell about 0.7% after failing to hold an intraday move above $64,400. The pullback produced $39 million in market liquidations, including $34.4 million from long positions.

The Strategy ledger records a 1,690 BTC sale at an average price of $64,262 last week. The transaction raised about $108.6 million and reduced holdings to 840,447 BTC.

A prior 1,638 BTC sale generated $104.7 million. Together, the two disposals raised $213.3 million. The company directed recent proceeds toward STRC repurchases, preferred dividends, and cash reserves.

Even so, Le told FOX Business that Strategy bought roughly 175,000 BTC during 2026. It sold about 7,000 BTC during the same period. He described purchases as about 25 times larger than sales.

ETF demand offers a counterweight. Weekly spot Bitcoin ETF inflows reached $854 million, absorbing roughly 13,300 BTC. Network issuance totaled about 3,150 BTC. However, analysts identified 1.79 million BTC held between $62,000 and $65,000, creating dense overhead supply.

MSTR Stock Trading Tops JPMorgan by Daily Share Volume

MSTR stock averages about 15 million to 20 million shares in daily turnover. JPMorgan typically records about 6 million to 9 million shares.

The comparison reflects activity in share terms, not company size. MSTR stock has a market value near $38 billion. JPMorgan exceeds $950 billion.

Dollar turnover also narrows the difference. MSTR handles roughly $1.5 billion to $2 billion daily at current prices. JPMorgan processes about $2.2 billion to $3.2 billion.

The stock’s 30-day historical volatility sits near 64%, far above many large banks. That volatility attracts short-term trading while reflecting direct sensitivity to the Bitcoin price.

According to market data, there are 14 “Buy” ratings, one “Hold”, and no “Sell” ratings. Its $232.50 consensus target implies nearly 139% upside from $97.33. Other aggregators publish different targets due to varying analyst coverage windows.

Strategy Plans More Bitcoin Buys as Financing Risks Rise

Strategy plans to restart accumulation later this year, but its financing structure now faces tighter conditions. Bitcoin price weakness has compressed the premium between MSTR stock and the value of its holdings.

The company relies on equity, preferred shares, and convertible debt to increase Bitcoin per share. Issuance works best when shares trade above modified net asset value. Below that threshold, new equity can dilute common holders.

Convertible debt stands near $6.7 billion. Preferred dividends totaled about $400.7 million during the second quarter. Strategy also recorded an $8.32 billion unrealized Bitcoin loss for the period.

Index status adds another variable. Earlier JPMorgan analysis estimated $2.8 billion of outflows if MSCI removes the company. The estimate rises to $8.8 billion if other index providers follow.

Meanwhile, Binance’s Bitcoin reserves have reached their highest level since February. Rising exchange balances can increase available market supply, though they do not confirm incoming sales.

Bitfinex expects the Bitcoin price to hold between $62,000 and $65,000. ETF demand competes with corporate selling and overhead supply.
