Musk's Grok beats Altman's ChatGPT in hot AI trading

Coinbase Global (Nasdaq: COIN), the top cryptocurrency trading exchange in the United States, launched Coinbase for Agents on June 11.

The feature connects a trader's AI agent directly to their Coinbase account so it can trade, pay, and execute workflows on their behalf within predetermined limits.

Whether it's portfolio rebalancing, capital efficiency, or data-informed trades, the feature lets AI agents execute everything on the Coinbase exchange on the trader's behalf.

It's been more than three months since the feature launched, and the latest data established the mastery of Elon Musk's Grok as the dominant agentic trading harness.

Grok brings 59.5% of agentic traders to Coinbase

Coinbase co-founder and CEO Brian Armstrongshared a dataset on Sep. 25, as per which Grok is right now the leading client for agentic traders on the top U.S. crypto exchange.

Grok is a generative AI large language model (LLM) series developed by Musk's AI company called SpaceXAI.

59.5% of agentic traders on Coinbase are coming from Grok, followed by custom models at 21.7%.

Anthropic's Claude (13.4%), Perplexity (3.5%), and Sam Altman's ChatGPT by OpenAI (1.5%) lag far behind.

Musk acknowledged Grok's dominance among AI agents active on Coinbase with a one-word response, "Cool."

Grok's integration with crypto's favorite platform X

Grok's dominance on Coinbase is hardly surprising as the AI app is integrated with X (formerly Twitter). The crypto community considers the social media network its digital home.

As reported earlier, X recently added cryptocurrencies to its Cashtag feature. It allows users to trade virtual assets like Bitcoin (BTC) just by tapping the "Trade" button after clicking the ticker such as $BTC. Users can thereafter trade cryptocurrencies on X's program partners such as Coinbase, Gemini, Kraken, Interactive Brokers, and Moomoo.

Musk himself is a crypto enthusiast who has frequently talked highly of Bitcoin and Dogecoin (DOGE). He, along with his companies Tesla (Nasdaq: TSLA) and SpaceX (Nasdaq: SPCX), hold Bitcoin.
