The Roundtable 100 analysts moved Tesla (Nasdaq: TSLA) 32 places higher to No. 65 this week after Elon Musk's automotive company demonstrated a "flying car."

The model named Roadster 2 used SpaceX's (Nasdaq: SPCX) rocket thruster technology to leap over a row of Tesla’s existing models parked side-by-side and accelerate from 0 to 60 mph in a record time of less than a second.

Roundtable 100 analysts boost Tesla on radical transitions

Published with TheStreet, The Roundtable 100 ranks the top 100 publicly traded technology growth assets. Each is scored from 0 to 100 by the analysts of the Blue Ribbon Committee on five variables, Team, Safety, Value, Innovation, and Market Dominance, with the average forming the asset's Power Ranking. The list refreshes every Friday after the U.S. market close.

The RTB 100 committee's analysts rank a company on the basis of its future growth potential instead of its current valuation.

Committee member Sam Badawi, an AI infrastructure investor and host of The Solid Report, said though the Roadster reveal was "exciting" which reinforces Tesla's engineering ambition, he said he wouldn't assign much financial value to it now.

The Roadster "proves engineering ambition, not near-term earnings," he said, adding he doesn't expect meaningful production "until around 2030."

Badawi's reasoning behind Tesla's ranking boost suggests it has nothing to do with cars.

"The much bigger thesis is Tesla transitioning toward high-margin software, autonomous transportation and humanoid robotics."

He said he priced in the company's self-driving software, the Robotaxi network, and the Optimus robot while lifting it by 32 places. Optimus, the robotic humanoid under development by Tesla, is "another massive long-term opportunity," the RTB 100 analyst added.

Badawi had the highest praise for Musk, calling him "the closest thing we have today to a living Einstein." But he added that the tech tycoon's "ambitious timelines and execution risk" kept the score below the highest tier.
