The AI chipmaker closed Friday with a market capitalization of about $5.65 trillion, while Nike’s value fell to roughly $50.25 billion after another weak session. That leaves a valuation gap of approximately $5.6 trillion between two of America’s most recognizable public companies.

The comparison is extreme, but it captures a much broader shift in the U.S. stock market: capital continues flowing toward AI infrastructure while traditional consumer brands struggle with slower growth, weaker international demand and higher operating pressure.

Nvidia Is Growing at a Completely Different Speed

The valuation difference is not just hype.

Nvidia generated $96.2 billion of revenue in its latest quarter, more than double the year-earlier level, while Data Center revenue surged 117% to $89 billion. Net income reached $59.7 billion in a single quarter. Nvidia is already guiding for roughly $108 billion of revenue next quarter.

Nike, by contrast, reported $11.2 billion of quarterly revenue, down 4% year over year, while management acknowledged continued weakness in Greater China, Nike Sportswear and Jordan Brand.

That divergence helps explain why AI stocks now dominate the S&P 500, with Nvidia alone recently accounting for more than 8% of the index.

Nike shares have fallen to around $33.87, leaving the stock near a 12-year low and down more than 50% over the past year.

Coinpaper has already tracked how the decline pushed Nike out of the S&P 100 and made it one of the weakest blue-chip stocks of 2026.

The contrast is especially striking because Nike was worth roughly $264 billion at the end of 2021. Nvidia, meanwhile, was valued at about $736 billion at that point. Today, Nvidia alone is worth more than 20 times Nike’s 2021 peak valuation.
