Ondo’s (@Ondo) latest weekly update highlights fresh developments across tokenized finance, from private company exposure to new institutional partnerships. Together they suggest tokenization is reaching further into traditional markets.
Ondo launches Private Markets
Last week, Ondo Finance introduced Ondo Private Markets. The product brings tokenized notes delivering the economic performance of private companies onchain. The first asset, referencing a leading pre-IPO AI company, is expected to begin secondary market trading this week, with robotics, cybersecurity, biotech and infrastructure names to follow.
The structure matters. According to Forkast, these tokens are not equity and do not grant voting rights, dividends, or a seat at the table of the underlying company.Instead, they are tokenized notes that provide economic exposure linked to the per-share value of the referenced company’s common shares at a qualifying liquidity event, such as an IPO or acquisition. Reporting also indicates the offering is aimed at eligible investors outside the United States. The tokens sit outside U.S. securities registration and can’t be sold to U.S. persons.
The launch builds on Ondo’s existing products. Its platforms for tokenized stocks and Treasurys together represent $3.7 billion in total value locked and more than 1 million cumulative holders. The update also notes that the IMF included Ondo among the largest tokenized equity platforms, as most trades take place during off-hours in the US.
Franklin Templeton and Animoca Brands expand access
Elsewhere, Franklin Templeton (@FTDA_US) and Animoca Brands (@animocabrands) teamed up to widen institutional access to tokenized investments. The two firms announced a strategic collaboration to bring tokenized real-world assets to NUVA, the Animoca Brands-backed vault marketplace.
The collaboration extends NUVA’s reach beyond its existing Provenance blockchain-based assets, unlocking access to institutional-grade assets from a broader base of asset issuers. The companies also launched a four-part research series focused on tokenization, real-world assets and the infrastructure used by institutional investors.
Details remain limited. The original report did not disclose financial terms, timing for new assets to appear on NUVA, or the identities of the additional issuers.
Taken together, the two developments show tokenization expanding from crypto-native products into private company exposure and institutional-grade assets, though access is still restricted to eligible investors and the products carry risks tied to their structure.
