Pierre’s Code Storage Technology Expands OpenAI’s Developer Infrastructure
Pierre Computer develops infrastructure that allows applications and AI agents to create, store, and manage software repositories. According to Pierre’s official website, Code Storage operates as a distributed Git-based system designed for machine-generated software.
The platform supports generated code, agent memory files, design documents, and other digital assets requiring regular updates. Additionally, developers can manage repositories through Git protocols and software development kits available in TypeScript, Python, and Go.
Code Storage also integrates with GitHub, GitLab, and Bitbucket, allowing applications to connect with established development platforms. Pierre identifies Lovable, Poke, Anything, Bolt, Amp, and Parahelp among companies using its infrastructure. Meanwhile, its architecture supports at least 30 concurrent writes and repositories reaching 32 terabytes.
OpenAI’s Pando System Shows Growing Demand for AI Coding Infrastructure
OpenAI has developed an internal Git storage system called Pando to address increasing software development workloads. According to OpenAI’s November 2 engineering report, Codex increased parallel coding activity across its internal repositories.
Consequently, earlier infrastructure experienced slower operations, failed merges, and reliability problems, with performance occasionally falling below 90%. Pando allows independent branches to process updates simultaneously while maintaining compatibility with existing Git tools.
Furthermore, OpenAI reported that the system reduced median push latency by nearly 80%. The infrastructure also delivers nearly one petabyte of Git data daily, reflecting substantial internal development demand.
Acquisition Positions Codex for Broader Competition With GitHub
The acquisition would provide OpenAI with additional infrastructure for managing software generated by developers and autonomous coding agents. Integrating Code Storage into Codex could combine AI coding capabilities with repository management within one platform.
Meanwhile, Pierre’s existing integrations would preserve connections with established development services, including GitHub. OpenAI has not disclosed the acquisition’s financial terms or completion timetable.
