@Chainlink and @OpenZeppelin have formed a partnership that brings Chainlink's Cross-Chain Interoperability Protocol (CCIP) and Automated Compliance Engine (ACE) into OpenZeppelin's developer library. The move ties Chainlink's $LINK-powered oracle and cross-chain infrastructure to software already widely used by token issuers.

What the integration covers

According to OpenZeppelin's announcement, CCIP and ACE are now native across its Wizards, AI tooling, Skills and documentation. UI Builder support is due in a future release.

The integration makes CCIP and ACE the default solution for ERC-20, ERC-3643 and future token standards built with OpenZeppelin's tooling. Compliance policies can be updated without redeploying the core token contract, the company said.

OpenZeppelin framed the deal around scale. The firm says its development standard sits behind $38T in value transferred, covering 9 of the top 10 stablecoins. Chainlink's oracle and cross-chain messaging protocols have processed more than $36T in transaction volume. Those figures are company-reported and have not been independently audited.

The two companies have also set out a migration path from OpenZeppelin Defender to the Chainlink Runtime Environment (CRE). OpenZeppelin says CRE will power upcoming production-grade institutional solutions and act as the orchestration layer for more complex financial workflows.

Why compliance tooling matters for issuers

The compliance features are aimed at issuers of both standard and permissioned tokens. Using existing smart contracts, issuers can run sanctions screening, KYC validation and minting controls, with identity and compliance logic built into the token design.

ACE launched in June 2025. Chainlink's launch release described it as a modular, privacy-preserving framework that links existing identity systems with onchain infrastructure and supports both onchain and offchain policy enforcement. It was developed with Apex Group, GLEIF and the ERC-3643 Association.

ERC-3643 is a permissioned token standard that builds compliance and controls into the asset itself, according to Chainlink's overview of ACE. Embedding ACE at the tooling level means developers can adopt those controls without assembling separate compliance infrastructure.

OpenZeppelin also points to institutional demand. It says its smart contract tooling is used by major institutions including BlackRock, WisdomTree and Franklin Templeton. Whether the integration translates into wider production use of CCIP and ACE will depend on issuer uptake over the coming months.
