@PancakeSwap destroyed 529K $CAKE (about $1.28M) over the past week, while new emissions came to roughly 150K tokens. That left the supply of PancakeSwap's native token down by a net 379K CAKE, worth about $912K.
Where the burns came from
The v2 trading pools drove the biggest share at 270K CAKE, up 24% on the week. Burns from v3 pools fell 24% to 192K CAKE, while the newer Infinity pools added 41.3K CAKE. Other sources such as prediction and perpetual products burned a further 26K CAKE, down 4%.
The weekly figure is in line with recent readings. The previous week's report showed a deflation of 480K CAKE ($1.27M).CAKE was down 3.9% on the day of the latest update, trading at $2.31.
Why CAKE burns more than it mints
The pattern reflects a deliberate redesign of the token's economics. In April 2025, PancakeSwap launched Tokenomics 3.0, cutting daily emissions by 44% and setting a target of at least 4% annual deflation.Daily CAKE emissions dropped from 40,000 to 22,500 tokens.
Supply limits have since tightened further. PancakeSwap's community approved a proposal to reduce CAKE's maximum supply in January. The proposal lowered the cap from 450 million to 400 million tokens.
Burns are funded by product usage rather than by treasury sales. Portions of fees from swaps, perpetuals, IFOs, prediction markets and the lottery are converted to CAKE and burned. That link to trading activity helps explain why burn totals move with volume across the v2, v3 and Infinity pools.
The track record is also long. PancakeSwap reported an 8.19% net supply reduction in 2025, with burns exceeding new emissions for 23 consecutive months. Weekly numbers still vary, so a single week of net burns says little on its own about the longer trend.
