@PancakeSwap has warned $CAKE holders on opBNB to move their tokens before Nov 23 at 00:00 UTC, when the LayerZero-powered route out of the network stops working. The deadline falls four weeks after the notice.

The change follows a decision by @LayerZero_Core to end the services that verify and deliver cross-chain transfers for opBNB. PANews reported that PancakeSwap said the move affects only users who hold CAKE on opBNB and use this cross-chain channel. It does not mean the CAKE token or the opBNB network has stopped operating.

What holders need to do

Holders can move their CAKE through PancakeSwap's official bridge page. Crypto Economy reported that users are asked to connect the wallet holding CAKE on opBNB, select opBNB as the source network, choose a destination network and confirm the transfer. PancakeSwap recommends finishing well before the deadline to leave time for processing.

PancakeSwap also warned users to rely only on official links. It said it will never DM users to offer help or ask for seed phrases, a standard precaution when bridge deadlines tend to attract scammers.

According to Crypto Briefing, PancakeSwap's bridge transfers CAKE between supported chains at a 1:1 ratio without fees. Transfers are non-custodial and handled by third-party providers, which for opBNB is LayerZero. Once LayerZero stops supporting the network offchain, the CAKE route out of opBNB closes.

LayerZero scales back support for smaller chains

The opBNB change is part of a wider cutback. In a support update dated July 24, 2026, LayerZero said it was winding down offchain support for chains with minimal activity, meaning its DVN and executor services would no longer be available there. The update lists opBNB with a September 30, 2026 effective date.

PANews reported on September 26 that 13 chains were affected from September 30, including Aurora, Taiko, Gnosis, Zora and opBNB. A second batch covering Gravity, Camp, Lisk, GOAT and Metis was set for October 30. A DVN, or Decentralized Verifier Network, confirms cross-chain messages alongside the executor, so apps that depend on these tools may stop passing messages correctly once they are switched off.

For CAKE holders on opBNB, the risk is operational rather than a change to the token itself. Anyone still holding CAKE on the network after the cutoff will lose this specific bridge path, so moving funds early is the simplest way to avoid problems.
