Three Things to Know PEPE led the altcoin pack after a surprise Congress result triggered a Bitcoin short squeeze. Whale buying and improving momentum keep the token's broader uptrend intact
Three Things to Know
- PEPE led the altcoin pack after a surprise Congress result triggered a Bitcoin short squeeze.
- Whale buying and improving momentum keep the token's broader uptrend intact despite a quiet week.
- A daily close above the squeeze peak near $0.0000053 would show the rally has legs.
PEPE outran the major memecoins this week as Democrats took both chambers of Congress and Bitcoin squeezed short sellers. Large holders kept buying as the spike cooled.
The token now trades in a tightening range just below its recent peak. That compression often comes before a sharp move in either direction. Traders want to know if whale demand can carry PEPE through overhead selling once Bitcoin calms down.
A Congress Shock Sends Bitcoin Higher and PEPE Along for the Ride
Democrats won control of both chambers of Congress on Nov 4-5, 2026, and Bitcoin reacted fast. The largest cryptocurrency broke above $81,100 as traders betting on a decline rushed to cover. More than $330M in short positions were liquidated in a single hour, and total liquidations topped $415M.
The move reached beyond crypto. Gold pushed above $4,030, while the US Dollar Index slid to a five-week low.
PEPE led the altcoin pack, jumping to $0.00000533 during the spike and beating the major memecoins. Independent analyst Nadim Zidan pointed to whale accumulation, strong retail inflows and a break above short-term exponential moving averages. Spillover from Bitcoin's squeeze added fuel.
Zidan also urged caution. He said memecoins tend to reverse sharply once volatility cools, and PEPE's rally is not yet a structural trend. For Bitcoin, he flagged support at $78,000 to $80,000 and a target of $82,000 to $84,000. He put the risk level at $76,000.
PEPE Holds Its Gains Well Above Both Long Averages

PEPE has since cooled off from that peak. The token trades near $0.0000049, flat over the past 24 hours. The spike has faded, but most of the earlier climb is still in place.
The longer view looks healthier. PEPE sits well above its 50-day moving average, which tracks the average closing price over roughly the last ten weeks and stands near $0.0000043. That line now acts as a floor under the price. Buyers have stepped in above it on recent dips.
Further down, the 200-day average, a gauge of the long-term trend, sits around $0.0000039. Price holds comfortably above both lines.
Their order matters too. The 50-day runs above the 200-day, so recent prices are higher than the longer history. That arrangement usually marks an uptrend that has room to continue, as long as the shorter line keeps rising.
Short-term returns tell a calmer story. PEPE slipped about 2% over the past week after gaining roughly 13% over the past month. A quiet day and a mild weekly dip after a strong run look like a pause.
Sellers have not pushed the price toward either long average. Instead, the range is tightening, and the daily chart shows PEPE coiling below its recent high.
Buyers Still Have Momentum on Their Side
RSI, a 0 to 100 gauge of momentum, reads about 59 on the daily chart. That is firm without being overheated. Readings above 70 usually signal an overheated market, so buyers still have room to push.
Other gauges point the same way. The MACD, which compares short and longer price averages, sits above its signal line. That means upward momentum is building again after the recent pause.
Trend strength readings also show a real trend, with buyers in control. That fits the whale accumulation Zidan described. Large holders appear to be absorbing dips, and the indicators reflect that steady demand.
$0.0000053 Is the Ceiling Standing Between PEPE and 8%
Resistance sits at the zone where the news-day spike topped out. Sellers who missed that peak are likely waiting there to exit. Closing above it would mark a gain of about 8% and show that buyers can hold the squeeze highs.
Clearing that ceiling would open the path toward the next resistance near $0.0000057. That level would test if the move can become the structural trend Zidan said it still lacks.
The downside matters just as much. Nearby support rests around $0.0000046, the base PEPE built after the squeeze faded. A break below it would erase that base and suggest the spike was a one-off.
In that case, the next floor sits near $0.0000042, just under the 50-day line. A drop there would test whether the longer uptrend still has buyers behind it.
Where the Next 72 Hours Could Take PEPE
Bitcoin's direction will likely set the tone for PEPE over the next three days.
- Bullish: A daily close above the squeeze-day high would put the next ceiling in play. Steady whale buying and firm momentum would support that push. The setup fails if PEPE closes below its post-squeeze base.
- Bearish: Losing that base would open a slide toward the floor just under the 50-day line. A Bitcoin drop toward Zidan's risk level would make that more likely. A close back above resistance would cancel this view.
Trend Intact, Breakout Unproven
PEPE's structure still favors buyers, with price above both long averages. The rally scenario stays unproven until PEPE closes above the spike's ceiling.
The risk is easy to see. This jump rode Bitcoin's short squeeze, and memecoin rallies built on borrowed momentum often fade quickly once volatility cools.
