Perceptron Network, a distributed intelligence infrastructure company, is making Walrus the primary storage layer for data generated by its network of more than 800,000 contributor nodes. Walrus is the decentralized storage protocol built on @SuiNetwork, and the move also ties it to Perceptron's upcoming Data Questing Platform.
The announcement came on October 22, 2026. According to a press release published by CCN, Perceptron said that by adopting Walrus as its primary storage layer it would remove the friction of egress fees and opaque pricing associated with traditional cloud providers. The release said every dataset produced by the network, from real-time market signals to annotated training data, would carry a verifiable identifier.
Peter Anthony, Perceptron's co-founder and CEO, said in the release that the structural mismatch between decentralized data acquisition and centralized storage had long been a bottleneck for the industry. In a separate statement quoted by Cryptonomist, he said the data is now signed and clients can verify the chain of custody themselves.
The release also said the architecture would keep data available by encoding it across a decentralized network of storage nodes, so it stays accessible even if part of the network goes offline. Perceptron said the setup would let it scale permissioned access to high-value, real-time data products while keeping the network decentralized.
Beyond storage, the integration serves as the foundation for Perceptron's upcoming Data Questing Platform, which is intended to let contributors annotate and structure data. Perceptron users will soon be able to annotate images, label complex datasets and submit structured inputs directly to the network, with each contribution recorded on Walrus, according to the KuCoin News summary of the announcement.
Some reports have framed the news as a full node migration. TokenPost reported that the plan concerns dataset storage rather than a migration of the network's nodes, and that the network has more than 807,000 nodes in total. It also noted that Walrus assigns stored data an identifier derived from its contents and records it on Sui, which can show whether data changed after storage. TokenPost cautioned that these checks confirm a dataset matches its recorded version, but do not establish whether the information was accurate or collected appropriately before upload.
Walrus was created by Mysten Labs. Sui documentation describes it as a decentralized storage and data availability protocol for large binary files that uses Sui for coordination, payment and governance.
The announcement adds to Walrus's use in AI-related data infrastructure within the Sui ecosystem. No financial terms of the arrangement were disclosed in the sources reviewed.
