Commitment-First Flow Replaces Earlier Model

Pi Network (@PiCoreTeam) $PI has rolled out a revised participation flow for its Launchpad platform, introducing a simpler and more transparent process for its second testnet token experiment. The update incorporates data and feedback from the first testnet token, IRRA, which launched on Pi Day 2026.

During that first test, over 478,000 Pioneers participated, staking a total of 36.05 million Test-Pi, while 198,000 Pioneers committed 14.72 million Test-Pi toward token acquisition for 10 million IRRA tokens. The scale of participation surfaced clear friction points. Some users staked Test-Pi but did not proceed to commit, and the interaction between staking and committing introduced too many moving parts, making it harder for participants to decide how to allocate their intended amount.

The redesigned flow addresses this directly. Participation now centres on the commitment amount, with users choosing how much Test-Pi they want to commit. The Launchpad then automatically calculates the related fair-access hold and displays the commitment amount, the hold amount, and the total together before confirmation. The fair-access hold is designed to support broader token distribution and reduce the chance of larger participants crowding out smaller ones, with the required hold scaling progressively with commitment size.

SLICE Token Ties the Test to a Real App

A second testnet token, SLICE, has been released to evaluate these improvements. Unlike the first test, SLICE is connected to a real working app, Slice of Pi, rather than a demo, enabling Pi Network to collect genuine engagement data ahead of a mainnet version.

SLICE is available exclusively on testnet and will remain active until Pi2Day on June 28, 2026.The token will never go onto mainnet. To take part, users open Pi Launchpad inside the Pi Browser, review the SLICE project, select a Test-Pi commitment amount, and confirm participation.

The broader purpose of these test token launches is to introduce Pioneers to new ecosystem token mechanics and educate the community on how to participate in decentralised finance mechanisms, while collecting data and feedback to help improve the Launchpad design ahead of a mainnet release.
