@0xPolygon has expanded its Open Money Stack with a new Crypto Checkout feature, a "Pay with Crypto" button designed to sit directly inside a merchant's existing checkout flow. The addition means businesses do not need to replace or rebuild their current payment setup to start accepting digital assets.
How It Works for Merchants and Customers
The feature works alongside existing Stripe integrations and allows customers to pay from any wallet, using any token, on any supported chain. The cross-chain orchestration layer inside the Open Money Stack handles swap and bridge routing in the background, so the shopper does not need to manually swap or bridge funds before completing a purchase.
On the merchant side, the key draw is simplicity and certainty. The merchant receives payment in their currency of choice at the point of purchase, with a built-in bank off-ramp handling the conversion. The Open Money Stack merges blockchain settlement, wallet services, fiat on-ramps, off-ramps, and regulatory compliance features into a single integration rather than requiring businesses to stitch together multiple vendors.
Settlement finality is another important distinction from traditional card payments. Once a crypto payment settles, no processor can reverse it. Refunds remain entirely at the merchant's discretion, removing the chargeback risk that costs the retail industry billions of dollars each year.
Part of a Broader Payments Push
Crypto Checkout is the latest addition to Polygon's growing payments infrastructure. Revolut has already processed more than $1.2 billion in stablecoin volume on Polygon, and Stripe, Flutterwave, Mastercard, and Visa are all live on the network. The stablecoin supply on the Polygon chain has surpassed $3.3 billion, and collaborations with traditional financial giants like Mastercard and Visa are entering deeper stages.
Supported by the Open Money Stack, users can pay transaction fees directly using stablecoins such as USDC or USDT, or even have fees covered by merchants and paymasters, removing one of the most common friction points for crypto-native payments at checkout.
Polygon's published data points to an average transaction cost of about $0.002, and for companies with high volumes of payments, low fees and 24/7 settlement offer operational advantages over conventional bank systems.
