@pudgypenguins has taken its Kakawow trading card collaboration to South Korea, marking what the brand is calling its first step into Korean retail. Seoul's @moacardshop has become the country's first store to carry the Pudgy Penguins Kakawow 1st Edition collection, according to the team's announcement on Monday.

To mark the debut, Pudgy Penguins ran PENGU-branded street advertising across Seoul, signaling that the launch is more than a quiet shelf placement. @PenguAsia said further details on the regional expansion are coming.

A Global Retail Push Gathering Pace

The South Korea launch is the latest step in a broader strategy to move Pudgy Penguins from digital collectible to mainstream consumer brand. The Kakawow Phantom Pudgy Penguins Official Trading Cards, which debuted at San Diego Comic-Con, are based on the brand's popular characters and transform 98 Pudgy Penguins and 38 Lil Pudgy NFTs into a physical collectible card series. The full series randomly inserts 1-of-1 card types, including Super Holder Burst variants.

On the physical merchandise side, the brand has built a notable footprint in the United States. Pudgy Penguins, managed by parent company Igloo, has placed toys in major chains including Walmart and Target. Most recently, the brand placed its Pengu plush toys on the shelves of over 1,800 Target stores nationwide, in what the team described as its first mainstream debut at that scale.

Asia Expansion Already Underway

Pudgy Toys are already distributed through international retailers including Lotte in South Korea and Don Quijote in Japan, as well as 7-Eleven across multiple regions. The addition of the Kakawow trading card line at a dedicated card specialist in Seoul adds another layer to that presence, targeting the collectibles-focused segment of the Korean market specifically.

Pudgy Penguins has grown from a breakthrough NFT project into a globally recognized collectible brand, and the Korea trading card launch illustrates how the team is adapting its product mix to suit each market. Trading cards carry strong cultural traction across East Asia, making Seoul a natural next stop after the brand's initial Asian retail moves.

Further announcements from @PenguAsia on the regional rollout are expected in the coming weeks.
