- Some rewards included high-risk or humiliating challenges, such as tattoos, dangerous stunts, and public embarrassment tasks.
- Critics, including public officials and tech leaders, warned the system raises safety, ethical, and legal concerns.
Pump.fun’s new crypto bounty feature has faced criticism after users completed tasks involving humiliating and risky stunts for digital rewards. The Solana meme coin launchpad introduced its GO feature on June 4, allowing users to create paid tasks with crypto payouts. According to the New York Post, the platform has paid more than $370,000, with over 270 open bounties still offering rewards.
Pump.fun launched GO as a marketplace where users can post tasks and offer crypto payments through escrow. Users connect an X account and crypto wallet before creating or completing bounties. Rewards reportedly start at $5, while Pump.fun reviews submissions before approving payments.
According to reports, some tasks involved harmless activities such as feeding stray animals or donating clothes. However, other listings included unusual and risky challenges. These included forehead tattoos, putting a face in a toilet, quitting a job on camera, and climbing Mount Everest.
Notably, one man in the Philippines received $15,000 in crypto after tattooing “bounty.fun” on his forehead. Another listing offered $57,200 for a person to climb Mount Everest and complete a related betting task.
Critics Question Safety of Crypto Challenges
The feature has drawn criticism from public officials and technology figures. New York Governor Kathy Hochul criticized the platform on X and said she would support legislation to ban it.

X head of product Nikita Bier also criticized the feature, saying it encouraged people to perform shameful acts for money. Meanwhile, reports from Wired highlighted concerns about tasks involving embarrassment, harassment, and possible legal risks.
Pump.fun warned participants that they take part at their own risk. The company also retains authority to approve, reject, or cancel submissions, according to reports from Bankless and The Defiant.
Pump.fun Faces Renewed Scrutiny after Launch
The criticism follows earlier concerns involving Pump.fun’s livestreaming feature. The platform previously stopped livestreaming after users used extreme methods to attract attention. The feature later returned with stricter moderation.
Since its launch, GO has continued to attract attention through its mix of charity tasks, unusual challenges, and large crypto payouts. The platform has more than $200,000 in remaining rewards across active bounties, according to the New York Post.
