Record Weekly Fees for Pumpfun

Solana memecoin launchpad Pumpfun (@Pumpfun) cleared a significant revenue threshold for the week of August 3 to 9, generating $10.03 million in protocol fees. That marks the first time the platform has crossed the $10 million weekly barrier and represents a 12% increase over the prior week.

The fee milestone came alongside a sharp jump in on-chain activity. Weekly trading volume reached $2.97 billion, the highest the platform has recorded since late January 2026. The numbers point to a recovery in retail and speculative activity on Solana after a quieter stretch earlier in the year.

Context: A Platform Built on Volume

Pumpfun operates as a token launchpad on Solana, allowing anyone to create and trade memecoins at minimal cost. Its $PUMP token captures value through a mechanism that directs 50% of net protocol revenue from bonding curves, PumpSwap, and other fees to automated buybacks and burns, while also enabling periodic revenue distributions to PUMP holders.

The platform has been a dominant force in the Solana ecosystem by revenue. According to DefiLlama, Pumpfun generated over $30 million in fees across the past 30 days, with more than $23 million counted as protocol revenue. The August fee and volume surge also arrives during a period of broader platform expansion. Pumpfun rolled out a major social trading upgrade introducing callout token alerts, zero-fee trading, and cross-chain USDC swaps. The product push appears to be feeding through into measurable on-chain growth.

For PUMP token holders, the fee momentum carries direct implications. The platform's buyback-and-burn mechanism ties protocol revenue directly to token demand, meaning sustained high-fee weeks can translate into incremental buy pressure on the open market. Since August 2025, the protocol has spent roughly 1.36 million SOL, or about $236 million, on buybacks, absorbing close to 18% of the circulating supply.
