Retail investors in the XRP community generally operate on optimism. Gina (@Gina_XRP), a long-term XRP holder, broke that pattern to challenge the narrative.
While social media feeds stay packed with price predictions, partnership rumors, and calls to accumulate, she believes the hype is old, and new buyers should understand that before committing capital.
Her Warning for New Investors
Her post warned prospective buyers that the excitement circulating on social media and YouTube, much of it driven by influencers, is not new. She described it as “the same type of BS they’ve been saying for years.” Her core concern targeted investors buying XRP in hopes of a 5x, 10x, or 100x return in the near term.
She argued those gains are “not happening anytime soon,” and that buyers could spend years holding while absorbing the same recycled optimism. She left room for long-term possibility, acknowledging that maybe a significant price event could occur. However, she cautioned against expecting it quickly. She described her own post as “a drop of honesty in a sea of BS hype.”
XRP’s Price History Supports the Patience Argument
XRP reached its all-time high above $3 in January 2018. Then the asset spent years consolidating. It did not come close to that level until 2025, when it hit an all-time high of $3.65 in July. It spent most of that time trading close to $0.5.
While the struggle is largely attributed to the extended legal battle with the SEC, the asset has also retraced much of its gains from last year. It is currently trading at $1.40. Anyone who bought near the top in 2018 had to wait over 7 years, and anyone who bought near the top in 2025 might have to wait years.
Reactions split in multiple directions. Some agreed with the substance of her post. However, she faced some backlash. One commenter questioned why anyone would go out of their way to post something like this, suggesting there was nothing to gain from it.
Another called her misinformed and said she presented zero facts. A third accused her of being a scammer engaging in the same hype she criticized, spotlighting a previous post that contradicted this one.
Others pushed back on the pessimism. One noted that a $1 billion investment at a high multiplier would produce a 10x return. Several expressed simple long-term conviction. One said he has held XRP for over 11 years and the breakout should happen soon. Another said he expects to wait 10 more years.
